Indeed. I don't think it was ever any secret she was being used for political purposes. Her press visa was expired, but still that's a pretty flimsy basis for an eight year sentence. At least she's free now.

Makes you wonder, will she ever go back there?

As reported (where else?)  on the WOODTV.com website:

COMMISSIONER CAUGHT HAVING SIDEWALK SEX

"Capello tells WXYZ-TV he "started out with good intentions" when he began walking the woman home from a bar before his actions took a wrong turn."

What's that old saw about the road to hell?

I sure hope so, we've got a middle school closed here in Minnesota because of a possible case.

I just read an interesting take on how the Swine Flu may have started, it seems there's a raging debate going on over at the Society for Environmental Journalists listserv.

"As of the moment,  about two weeks into formal medical forensic investigation,  no one knows just what the source of the mutant H1N1 virus first discovered in the Vera Cruz region of Mexico might have been.

Much attention has been given to the case of five-year-old Edgar Hernandez,  of the La Gloria hamlet in Perote,  near the Granjas Carroll factory pig farm.  Hernandez-who survived-is the earliest victim of the mutant H1N1 virus from whom a sample was preserved.  La Gloria residents blamed Granjas Carroll for an outbreak of illness in February and March 2009.  Officially attributed to biting flies,  the illness produced flu-like symptoms.

Granjas Carroll is half-owned by Smithfield,  the world's largest factory pig producer,  involved in pollution incidents at multiple sites on several continents. "

pretty interesting article...here's the link if you want to read more about it

They closed the state hospital (no visitors in, no one out) because two staff persons may have it.

The high school also told the kids that if there is a suspected case, they will close the school (holy crap, like we havent missed enough school this year!!)

I think this flu is the warning shot across our bow.  It spreads fast, but is mild.  The next one might not be mild at all.  We're fortunate to have this practice round.
