My brother's book came out recently. 'Philosophy Through Video Games'. Dad bought a bunch of copies to give to everyone, I have no idea how well it will actually sell. It is quite interesting, although it's pretty heavy stuff at times. If you're a gamer or a philosophy buff, or better yet both, I think you'd get a kick out of it.

I'm an avid reader. Thrillers, literature, Scifi, anything goes.
Sometimes you read a book that you never forget, as it is so original (or at least you think so at the time) or so well written.
In the late 70s, maybe early 80s I read a thriller. It was set in NY, and basically each chapter has a killing. The killings seem to be totally random and weird, all of them done in different ways. The police is baffled, and so is the reader. Killings I remember vividly: a famous football player and a cable car employee. Finally one of the police officers sees a strange connection, namely colours.

In the end it turns out that 4 Vietnam veterans were bored stiff and set up a game of Parcheesi. The board is divided in parts of New York, and if for example Blue hits Green, Mr. Blue has to kill someone associated with the colour green in said part of NY.
Maybe very pulpish, and in retrospect badly written, but can anyone find out who wrote it and the title?

In that same period I read The Taking Of Pelham 123, having seen the film with Walter Matthau. I really loved that, and apparently they're going to make a remake! Quentin Tarantino's guys in Reservoir Dogs quarreling over who gets to be Mr. Green etc. apprently comes from that book as well!
