How do you know? Do you have some sort of litmus test you apply before you attempt to spread joy?

You like splitting hairs don't you.  The fact is you wished people a Happy Hanukkah and then bitch about people wishing you a Merry Christmas.

You are again caught in your continued hypocrisy.

You have no idea how ridiculous you are do you?

Yes, that clears up the contradiction. Oh, look, non celebrators are in there, gathering and sharing good will! Wonders ever unceasing...

You started a thread "HAPPY HANUKKAH".  How dare you offend me like that.

You are just a whiny "hippecrit".

This is the problem with religion, it creates exclusiveness.

Thanks, you too!

You're welcome. Whatever you need to get thru this time of oppressive cheerfulness. Me, I'll have some eggnog.

We live in a diverse place, lots of cultures mingling. We each bring something from our own traditions, and our culture is richer for it. If you insist on dealing with that culture on only your own terms—and being offended by all the others—you will miss out on that experience. The space you get to wish people a happy Hanukkah comes from letting them wish you a merry Christmas.

Namaste.

In that spirit, I will not wish you a merry Christmas. Have a miserable, thin-skinned, easily-offended Christmas full of imagined slights and religious paranoia.

You just don't get it, do you. Do you get pissy when someone says "good luck" or "have a nice day"? I think birthdays are a load of crap, but I don't get upset when someone says "happy birthday" to me. Why do you hate it when someone says something nice to you. Show some class and just thank them and move on.

I didn't say I hated it, I just don't get why people insist on saying something to me that is totally meaningless to me. The examples that you gave are not relevant, they are completely different than wishing someone Merry Christmas.

This kind of thinking, that everyone should enjoy Christmas, how could they not?  is what leads to Jewish kids being held in the principal's office until they accept Jesus as their savior (that's a true story, one of many).

But it's just my opinion, and obviously I am wrong and you are all right.
