Valid points from another member of the "Cartoonist Tribe".  I'd be curious to know Robert Crumb's and Art Spiegelman's takes on those events; aside from being luminaries of the trade I think they both have lived in France at some time.

Here is one from Spiegelman that I just Googled but haven't looked at yet.  First glance I didn't find anything from Crumb since the attack but this would have you believe he's in France now.

Last strip from Stephane Charbonnier, director of Charlie Hebdo.

I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

Wednesday’s murderous attack on the offices of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo is a reminder not only of the horrors of tribalist political violence but also the enduring power of images to both inspire and offend. In his thoughtful 2013 book The Art of Controversy, Victor Navasky convincingly argued that political cartoons are a uniquely potent art form because images impact the human mind more quickly than almost any other form of communication.
Visceral it is.

It Sadly Unclear Whether This Article Will Put Lives At Risk

....“We live in a society in which every person is entitled to his or her own opinions, and every person is entitled to express those opinions without fear of harm. And that isn’t changing, whether a small minority of psychotic, murderous degenerates like it or not.”

At press time, although the consequences of this article are reportedly still unclear and actual human lives may hang in the balance, sources confirmed that the best thing to do—really the only thing to do—is to simply put it out there and just hope that it does some good.
