there're a lot of glider pilots in the comments... obviously the guy screwed up, but the consensus is that he *should* have dumped it into the trees at :38, but they seem to acknowledge that you'd really have to have your wits about you to think that clearly, just a few seconds after realizing there was a situation.
I don't know what he could do without causing the glider to crash, but I think I'd have been trying to get his clip into his hand so that he could clip into something. But all's well that ends with the victim posting a youtube, so...
Edit: :lol: I guess it went viral in Russia overnight... tons of comments in a funny alphabet.

Having run a fuel plaza on the Ohiya Turnpike for 5 years, that has got to be my worst possible nightmare of those days come true.
I did have a 120 gallon diesel spill one day during a snow storm. Some smart ass laid the hose down clicked on at the truck pumps and drove off. Everybody including the Coast Guard showed up for that mess. Back then (90's) any spill greater than 20 gallons required a call to the CG because of the possibility of the spill reaching a water way. Took a couple weeks and a shit load of sand to clean it up. The stink lasted a little longer. :cringes:
