I listened to both The Girl In The Other Room and The Look Of Love last night, by chance. I don't listen to her voice as much as I do the overall sound of her recordings. I'm not in total agreement with Janis, after all, I have some of her recordings. But I do think that there are times when her intimate voice comes off as a bit weak. And, she also tends to clip the vocals rather than letting her voice trail off, kind of like Tony Bennett. So I like her, but I don't
love her.

Perhaps her appeal is somewhat gender-dependent.
