It's amazing to see how many people it takes to try and take Nuggler and HC down. Look at you all, here are two people (regardless of if you like them or not) at least
trying to expose something, someone as being a bit of a crook, trying to expose some truthsand  trying to open your eyes a little to something that may escape you while you sail round the marina a few times or take in that extra round of golf before going home to your leafy 'burbs. But no, all you's can do is try and mock, no debate at all, just mockery. As long as you's are ok, the bank balance is looking healthy and you can take a few holidays a year then that's all that matters, fuck everyone else.

While you are sailing your big yacht out there, take a minute or two to give a thought to the 13 million people who can't get jobs, the 50 million people who have no health insurance, and all those people who can't afford food.

I think the point was to counter the obviously tongue in cheek islander post with a tongue in cheek reference to the yacht.

But when stating that there are 13 million who can't get jobs, 50 million without health insurance and people who can't afford food in what's supposed to be the world's greatest and richest country is in dead earnest.

And it's impossible not to bump into people who aren't on the edge.  When I relocated to a new area, one of the first people I met was a person who relies on a friend to live rent-free in order to pay down an enormous mountain of debt.  People without health insurance.  People facing eviction or living in their cars.

This in the midst of a massive increase in the stock market, meaning that those who own the corporations are now seeing a massive rise in wealth.

Oh, wait, pointing that out is Just Jealousy.  Noperz, it's really FUCKING WONDERFUL that an upper level corporate prince can afford a new house/car/yacht/aircraft while, say, someone afflicted with schizophrenia lives in a tent.

Dammit, get with the program!!  Chuck out those feelings of outrage and sentimentaliy that have afflicted the human race since civilization began!!  It's time for...New Capitalist Man!

So, the Koch brothers are personally responsible for all this?   Who said so?  It's dishonest to imply that anyone thinks the Koch brothers are completely responsible.

Are they part of a leadership class that's irresponsibly neglecting the welfare of the entire nation?

Yes.

And I notice that in all the joshin' a few unsettling facts are obscured:

From the linked New York Times article, it seems that the Koch brothers host get-togethers at Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa for a select few. Nothing wrong with that, although these are the same people who try and tell us that they're on the side of the Average American, unlike those Elitist Liberals.

But what's a little unsettling is some of the names on the guest list:
"To encourage new participants, Mr. Koch offers to waive the $1,500 registration fee. And he notes that previous guests have included Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas of the Supreme Court  "

And, from the people harping on Liberty and Freedom of Expression:

"The Kochs insist on strict confidentiality surrounding the California meetings, which are entitled “Understanding and Addressing Threats to American Free Enterprise and Prosperity.” The letter advises participants that it is closed to the public, including the news media, and admonishes them not to post updates or information about the meeting on the Web, blogs, social media or traditional media, and to “be mindful of the security and confidentiality of your meeting notes and materials.”

Good God, that's the kind of thing Secretive Government Bureaucracies tell their people.  Betcha they lifted the "be mindful of the security and confidentiality of your meeting notes and materials" passage straight from some Government agency

Then there's the link to the companies associated with the Kochs.

This site shows just how hard it is to vote with our dollars.  Anyone set on boycotting the Kochs would have devote hours on end to checking the list, especially the materials used in other products, then figuring out substitutes.  And suppose they can't find a substitute, or can't afford one?

Really, it's quite simple.  The ownership faction of our civilization is being pig headed about what they are to do.   If the percentage of wealth held by the top 1% is reduced from 33% to 23%, and the proceeds used to benefit the lower orders of the economy, that'd give us 10% of the national wealth, or 10% of $55 trillion = $5.5 trillion.  Interestingly, that's approximately the cost of all the economic bailouts, etc., to deal with the meltdown.

Well, it was largely the elite who fucked up and produced this mess.  They can shell out to fix it.  And in the process make the US a truly better place.  Think of what 5.5 trillion could do.  That's about 5 thousand billion...divided by 50 states its 100 billion per state.  Not a bad little sum.  It can be further apportioned by population, so some states would get even more.

It'd just be stated as a...milestone.

Yeah.  Milestones.

Each year, the top 1%'s wealth share goes down by 2 percentage points. So start with 33%;  in a year 31%, next, 29%, etc,, down to 23%.

Management by Objectives!!!

Let them figure out how to do it.  As George Patton said "Never tell a person how to do a thing.  Tell them what to do and they'll surprise you with their ingenuity."

The flies aren't the problem. They're the symptom, not the disease. All the aspirin in the world won't fix a brain tumor, and painting the grass green won't keep it from withering without water.

Discredit their ideas and the Kochs are just two more rich nut jobs. Kill the weed at the root or watch it spread like dandelion fluff.

See, you're taking it all wrong. It's not what we say, it's how you take it.

Just as when you say something, like "While you are sailing your big yacht out there, take a minute or two to give a thought to the 13 million people who can't get jobs, the 50 million people who have no health insurance, and all those people who can't afford food" we're taking it all wrong by seeing that as a mean-spirited ignorant personal attack. See, that was meant as kind, caring, compassionate and loving. Only someone who hates you personally could misinterpret that.
