Certainly unions are an important omission. My bad.  I use the groups I mentioned es examples , not even nearly a complete list.  Right now, here in MN we are having "right to Work" disputes and our neighbor WI has made headlines over union and right-to-work issues.

Not in the heavily funded  and organized way that Koch, Big Pharma, NRA and others do lobbying and constitute  special interest groups.  If you call "special interests"  those interests the 99% have in common, then perhaps "yes" to that point.  I see OWS as a heterogenous association of groups and individuals, grass roots based, that have many, but perhaps not all, interests in common.  Examples may be the homeless in contrast to the health care advocates or low income or affordable housing acivists.  The idea is to level the playing field a bit from a society and political structure that seems highly dominated by money and the organizations (few) that provide most of the funds.
