They still have to run the risk of being killed (and their back pay will accumulate) but they will not be paid until the govt is back up and running.

Many in the armed forces live paycheck to paycheck and this restriction of cash flow for any period of time is debilitating, despite the fact that they will ultimately be paid for their efforts (assuming the govt reaches resolution to the budget).

However, I also feel that every single one of these jokers on both sides of the aisle, and the man in the White House should be CHARGED A PENALTY for their incompetence and inability to reach agreement on time.

They should be made to feel the public's pain.  I think if they owed the American public a days wage for every day the government is rendered useless we'd have a mighty quick resolution to the problem.

Seriously, who do these people think they are, and what part of the government being rendered completely ineffective do they think is what the public is interested in?  Where did they get that idea that this sort of brinksmanship was in anyone's best interest?

The notion of our armed forces and their families going without pay is sickening.
