But in general, I think it's misleading to tell companies that this is a wise use of their time and money. FB is a social zone.

I see all kinds of companies out on FB. Whether or not it makes any sense, i don't know. Certainly for companies such as Crutchfield and Sandisk that sell or make consumer electronics, an FB presence is fundamental. However, their posts should be both frequent and informative. I've also liked Cascadian Farms' FB page, but think that their presence is really more of a "warm fuzzies" approach to remind me, as a consumer, to purchase their food items. I'd do this anyway, however, but do like the recipes they post.

I created a page for my employer, a medical devices company, but haven't been promoting it. I'm more interested in getting additional hits on our website. I could probably use FB to drive traffic to the site, but haven't worked it.

EDIT: (Whereas Crutchfield's posts are informational and often useful to me, Sandisk's posts have mostly been irrelevant to their product line and are therefore just wasting bits. I'll a good Crutchfield post with my 300+ friends, thus making it a viral mktg msg, but Sandisk's, which promote their Sansa line of MP3 players, are just plain stoopit.)
