Unless you need to set up a wireless printer or make a Thunderbird profile copied from MacOS work with it.

I bought a Dell laptop in early December with 10 on it. I have yet to light it up for the first time. The plan was / is to feed the TV via Roku or Fire. Still haven't made that choice yet either. It has sat mostly because I am not up to learning yet another OS. Getting too old for this shit.
This just makes me all the more resolved to do nothing with this other than to be a streaming source.
Fire vs. Roku ? I'm open to thoughts ...

Yep, printer drivers can be a bear with Linux. For my Brother wireless printer had to manually edit the config files with the printers IP addy etc. And no documentation that says you need to do that. But on the other hand Linux has gotten much easier to install and use by the average person over the years. And best of all its usually rock solid, no lockups or reboots etc.

Last week, an Ars Technica investigation found Windows computers sending data back to Microsoft servers even after services like Cortana and OneDrive had been disabled, in one case even sending back a message as soon as users hit the Start button. It's a telling change for Microsoft — the last major tech company built on self-contained software — and it’s set off a string of related worries. If any Microsoft users had been scared off by data collection from Google and Apple, they now have nowhere to turn. Reached by Ars Technica, the company was quick to defend itself, saying, "No query or search usage data is sent to Microsoft, in accordance with the customer's chosen privacy settings." Most of the data is anonymized usage logging, not inherently a privacy concern, but the fact remains: using Windows 10 requires constant access to Microsoft's remote servers, and that access goes both ways. This isn't an option anymore; it's the default
In 2015, this is simply how computing works. Consumers expect smart recommendations and continually improving services. We expect computers — all computers — to be able to answer any question at any time. In return, companies get constant access to your computer for data collection, automatic updates, and offboard processing. This isn't an option anymore; it's the default. And anyone who doesn't like the deal is going to have a very hard time using today's computers. Sure they do, its called "LINUX".

DaveInVA wrote: Holy Fcuk!!! ================================== It’s your own fault if you don’t know that Windows 10 is spying on you. That’s what people always say when users fail to read through a company’s terms of service document, right? Well, here is Microsoft’s 12,000-word service agreement. Some of it is probably in English. We’re pretty sure it says you can’t steal Windows or use Windows to send spam, and also that Microsoft retains the right to take possession of your first-born child if it so chooses. And that’s only one of several documents you’ll have to read through. Actually, here’s one excerpt from Microsoft’s terms of use that everyone can understand: We will access, disclose and preserve personal data, including your content (such as the content of your emails, other private communications or files in private folders), when we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary to.
================================= Good faith belief??? On what planet is stealing my personal information good faith? This is one those rare instances where the Government Overlords should regulate their respective asses. Give me a choice to opt in. Don't force me to hire an attorney to scour your bullshit agreement for crap like this!
