Ridiculously hot.
A couple of weeks ago it got cool.
At least it is really dry.

Still no snow or even an overnight freeze...grass is growing and flowers blooming.
But those damn flies are coming in again...looking for a place to winter.

It's moved east of us now - over Durham and Raleigh areas.

Still raining very hard but the tornado warning has expired - now it's at the "tornado watch" stage. The TV, Alexa, and my wife's phone were all beeping a little while ago and it got alarmingly dark for a while. Looks okay for now, the rain has slowed down while I was typing.

Still raining very hard but the tornado warning has varied - now it's going back and forth with the "tornado watch" stage. The TV, Alexa, and my wife's phone were all beeping a little while ago and it got alarmingly dark for a while. Looks okay for now, the rain has slowed down while I was typing.
Fingers crossed.

Blue skies after a night and half day of soaking rain. Fluffy white clouds racing by from the lately predominant Atlantic south-west stream.

Enjoy it now because roughly 5 billion years from today, the Sun will exhaust the hydrogen fuel in its core and start burning helium, forcing its transition into a red giant star. During this shift, its atmosphere will expand out to somewhere around 1 astronomical unit â the current average Earth-Sun distance. This means the Sun will gradually engulf Mercury, Venus, and likely Earth.
Must prepare!
