I can't play it, but as a young boy helping my dad in the pub I once passed a pint to a player over the card table, and so got a right bollocking, which put me off. Very serious stuff out in the country. And I'm not really very good at card games anyway.
 
My sister's a natural and picked it up when she was Nancy's age. And she won all my pocket money at whist.

i slept out for 4 days in downtown pittsburgh for stones tickets back in 1989. it was a hugely life-changing experience. it was almost like a festival at times. i'll never forget it.

Spent the night in a reclining beach chair on Milpas street to get Kink tickets in the early 80s. Got front row seats!

I also remember going to the Santa Barbara County Bowl to buy Dead tickets w/ Warren Zevon at UCSB in the late 70's. As I was buying those tickets, the ticket lady announced that Stones tickets just went on sale at the Anaheim stadium along with Peter Tosh....so I said, I will take two of those too!

Anyway, during my college years, we used to go see shows weekly up at Saratoga Performing Arts Center, which is an ampitheater surrounded by a not so difficult to scale fence. Being the starving students we were, we usually didn't have tickets...there was a certain point in the woods next to the fence which had its strategic advantages for scaling as it was hard for security to see you. During an attempt to see a CSN show, I along with a lady friend jumped the fence...me going first and she following. As I turned to see how she was proceeding, she jumped down and her shirt got caught by the fence, with her coming down topless (but with bra). Not knowing what to do, she continued to proceed into the ampitheater. I being the gentleman I was and still am, went back to retrieve the shirt. Unfortunately, my delay at the point of entry caught the attention of security who were on their way to retrieve us. I got the shirt, grabbed the girl and made away towards the crowd. As soon as we were within the herd, and with security close on our heals, I grabbed her and embraced her in a long, hard kiss. I never knew if security knew it was us or not, but he walked right past. After, we proceeded to enjoy a wonderful evening on the lawn under the stars. We weren't dating at that point, but soon were.

Quit my job as i had no holiday left to take, bought a late ticket to NYC from London to see Depeche Mode play Madison Sq Garden. I stayed with friends in Park Slope but the initial reason i bought tickets for the flight was to see Depeche Mode and the rest sorted itself out. Great show! 

I can't remember so it must've been a great concert.

um... nothing.  I bought tickets and went to the show.  *shrug*

I fell ass-backward into a pair of tickets to Led Zeppelin reunion in London.  Two women I met at a radio conference in Reno had an organized group going and I told them to keep me in mind if they had a cancelation. When Jimmy Page hurt his hand and the show had to be postponed, a couple that was supposed to go had to back out.  So, about two weeks before the show, I got a phone call from one of my Reno contacts asking if I could go.  The only catch was that I had to buy both tickets and arrange my own flight from North Carolina and secure accomodations in London on short notice.  Needless to say the tickets were not cheap because they included a pre-show dinner, open bar before and after, an after-party with several of the opening bands playing, and transportation to and from O2 Arena.

My wife was in the midst of a job change and could not justify going at the time, so I made a phone call to the one person I thought could drop everything and go.  He was self-employed, had the means to buy a ticket and a flight on short notice, and was single, so he did not need to negotiate with anybody about taking a rock and roll roadtrip.  In about ten minutes time, he was on board and we were soon on our way for a 4-5 day adventure in the U.K.

I had friends living in London, so we flopped at their place.  They were a fun couple, had been there for a year or so, and were terrific hosts.  They showed us around all the London landmarks by day and, more importantly, turned us on to the best pubs in town at night.  Before during and after the concert we met Led Zep fans from all over the globe and there was no place we'd rather be. 

The show was unbelievable.  It instantly vaulted to the best show I've ever seen.  Robert Plant could not hit the high notes, so they avoided Immigrant Song and other tunes that would test upper end of his vocal range, but what they did play was incredible.  Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones were rock solid and Jason Bonham filled in admirably for his dear departed dad.  The stage and giant video backdrop were among the best I've ever seen and the crowd was absolutely joyous because we never thought we'd have the chance to see Led Zep perform live.

I've scalped tickets, participated in radio station contests,sat in line for hours, but the craziest concert scenario I ever had was this once-in-a-lifetime show by the kings of Heavy Metal.  For the entire trip, absolutely everything "came up us."  There were digital video cameras everywhere, so with any luck, Page & Co. will eventually release a DVD of the show so everyone can experience what we did.
