You're right. At first I thought it would be interesting to see how shameless they can get about milking the old hit, but it's not interesting, just annoying and embarrassing. One Particular Harbor is good, I didn't know about it. But if I have to hear Margaritaville on the radio one more time, someone is going to pay.

That clip from Ellen was indeed embarrassing, especially to an old parrothead.  His concerts stopped being fun towards the mid 90's when he had to tone things down for his corporate sponsors.  I especially find the salt, salt, salt addition to Margaritaville especially annoying, but its his song so ...  Yeah, airplay, its ruined so many songs for so many.  Fortunately, I haven't listened much to terradio for over 15 since finding RP and a lot of songs that got played to death have a new life.

In the spirit of the thread title, here's one I feel fits.  I know I'll get lot's of grief on this one, but ... their only worldwide number one hit hasn't been played here in over 5 years.

He had plenty o hits.  Like this one ... best started at 2:20

He gets no justice here.  There are a few other legitimate hits that got ton's of airplay for years.  Fins, Volcano and Cheeseburger in Paradise to name the most popular.
And my favorite version of one of his best songs ever ...  I'll stop now.

Yeah, some acts have a few minor hits, then one really big hit making them superstars for a time before they slowly fade away - some slower than others.

*edit - oh, you modified the title - cool.

Charlie Daniels Band - The Devil Went Down To Georgia

Southeners think that Charlie Daniels had lots of hits, but I can't hear it in anything beside this one.

Yes, but the fact that Eddie Money is still doing this one is a real wonder.
