Apparently it's damned difficult to be male, rich and/or famous and also be a decent human being.

I imagine in many workplaces - especially ones with very public exposure - allegations of most things listed under "improper behavior" are enough, at least if they seem credible or at least possible to HR.  Anyhow, I thought he was retired.

i was thinking something similar. News/Entertainment/Politics  maybe they're all not separate.

All these scandals could be a big boon for female execs and politicians. Not sure how or if you can consciously "spin" that...but maybe we'll see more gender diversity in the coming year?

I actually don't think its blinders in a lot of cases, I think it is more of partisans with an agenda who are trying to just score points for the team and Bend it like Beckham to make it work. Just another microcosm of how screwed up our political system and culture is and how far its gotten out of hand. :-(

No, I certainly don't however I do appreciate the breeze created by your whoosh of my point. Power being used as leverage to misbehave is kinda like you know the sky being blue and stuff. Duh and or Hello.

The floodgates that have been released since the Weinstein revelation is quite satisfying on many levels; the most important is that hopefully with all of this public shaming and light being shown on this creepy behavior this will hopefully dissuade this type of behavior and they will start to keep their hands and their penises to themselves. The second less important but nevertheless satisfying side effect of these revelations is that they will no doubt have more effect and publicity when the alleged perpetrator is wealthy, powerful and/or famous and I admittedly take joy in watching the powerful and celebrity class struggle. Bring em all down I say, let others worry about what team they are on and bullsh*&t like that. Those looking for a partisan angle to further their political agenda will be playing Twister cause political persuasion and being a creep have nothing to do with one another. Keep ya hands to yo self or wind up in the funny papers! At least some type of swamp is being drained anyway and it has nothing to do with politics or at least if you think it does, you are missing the point.

Cable and streaming has so many things that I want to watch but I know they're going to let me down. I see so many comedians have Netflix or Amazon series and I think "ah, that'll be great!" Loaded up the Aziz Ansari series because on NPR it sounded great. Opening scene: bare-assed fucking. Charlie likes Patton Oswalt (he's in the new MST3K and does some voice work in animations etc) so we put on his standup special. Some of it was great and then we were all "is he really going there?" and yep he did. Richard Pryor would have been "dude, dial it back."

re. comedians...then there is the hypocrisy back in the day of Cosby criticizing Pryor.  Who the hell knows anymore.

Subject change: I've heard this wave of revelations being referred to as The New Puritanism, the implication being that we're getting to a point where Gentlemen may only risk rejection via a calling card. To actually broach the subject of pursuing a relationship more casually is becoming unacceptable.

And of course, the Valentine card, which was once, literally, asking permission to consider the recipient his girlfriend; actual conversation may come later.

The point is that the 60s and 70s did away with so much of this stifled protocol. I'm sure creepers were around in earlier days but to get rid of any rule is usually/always taken as a hint that you should do the thing that used to be verboten. I think the 70s confused the hell out of a lot of people, but they got more sex (or thought it was working that way for others), so they went along with it. I do not know what I'm talking about.
