What the actual heck?! As many secret button pushes as I know and that long press never made it on my radar. Much thanks.
And even more thanks for your work on the app!

It is better on the new site than the Legacy, though.

Whenever we use digital players, we have to do a conversion from digital to analog. That's what the internal sound boards of the PCs, mobiles and tablets are responsible for. These boards are not designed to take full advantage of the sound quality provided by the flac files as in the case of RP.
In the particular case of Volumio, what is done is to use a Raspberry Pi processor or another similar one that with Volumio works as a local music player and streaming even Tidal, Spotify, etc.. It uses a DAC (digital / analog converter) to the output that assures us an excellent use of the information that comes with a flac file.
To take advantage of all the spectrum that flac gives us, we can also use a DAC connected to a USB port of a PC. Or a dedicated streaming player, today all major brands offer them.
The difference in the sound quality will be noticed more as long as we have good quality amplifiers and baffles.

Can't speak to all of those, but sometimes I'll use iTunes from my desktop so I can stream to three different areas via AirPlay.
That's not necessary when I use the AppleTV as my source - then I use the RP App and configure the ATV output to many sites (but that's a pain - I wish it were part of the app).

There is no way to configure AirPlay2 from inside the aTV app, sorry (I tried to do it). But it's not so boring to do it, it's improved for me as soon as I found that the output configuration it's just a long press the play/pause remote button while on the "desktop" and select the output devices from there... Check also on the Apple site.

For the why use a native app (there is also a native app for macOS, while it do not support channels), I discovered there are 2 kind of Mac users: users that are not sensitive to latency and do not use system workflows (like streaming to different speakers), that are well served by a web application and users (like me) that cannot tolerate the latency of web apps (the fact that there is a significant delay between asking an action and the fact that something happens, like in this editor, for example) and that frequently use a portable Mac from battery (not using web apps and using Safari instead of Chrome improves significantly the battery duration) that prefer to not use web apps, it's just that. It's not religious, it's just a different perception. 🙂

The RadioParadise plugin for Volumio is now available.
It has all channels, FLAC Mellow and Main included.
It works very well, it sounds sensational!

Unfortunately, TuneIn does not support FLAC links.

We're working on a native Sonos app that will play FLAC.

First of all I want to complement you and your wife with having Radio Paradise and your music choice. My wife and I love this music station. But, unfortunately there is a but, for a few months now we have some stutters on certain moments, mostly around 5.00 - 6.00 PM Amsterdam time zone. When they occur, the song is interrupted every 10 or so seconds for the duration of 2-4 seconds.
We use a Bluesound node 2. I first contacted them, but they refer to RP. When I look in the Bleusound logfile I notice distinct errors appear:  May 27 14:52:52 (none) user.info ./ms.pl: Controller::outputUnderrun Controller.pm (2745) streamId=418
Though the Bluesound node is attached through Wifi, I don't believe that is the problem, because I can play flawless high res music from my NAS and the Bluesound reports a good Wifi connection.
The stutering lasts mostly about 10 minutes, but it is very anoying.
Maybe it is some kind internet traffic-jam, as it mostly occures about 5.00 PM every day, I don't know. Does this makes any sence tot you? I read in other posts beneath that you advise other links to streams. Unfortunately I cann't use those in the Bluesound. But on the other hand the stuters we suffer from are in a short time-span. So maybe this a different kind of problem. I'm curious what you think about this.

We're now connecting European listeners on Bluesound devices to a different server. Seems to be working well.

Thank you, it does indeed work well. Very happy here again!!!

Glad that helped! Just for clarity to help others new to this thread, I'm copying Bill's reply listing all servers:

For most of us it's best to use these,
Main Mix: http://stream.radioparadise.com/flac
Mellow Mix: http://stream.radioparadise.com/mellow-flac
but if they don't work, replace "stream" with one of the "icy" choices above.

You mean the new streams and also the infrastructure that supports the RP apps plus third-party apps on LMS and BluOS? I certainly hope so. The apps include the ability to skip tracks, for one thing.

Having said that, Michael has the metadata working with the new streams in LMS, and this is great because the full app still has some glitches. I never skip tracks anyway. For now the new streams are only working via Favorites, but I expect he'll add both streams to the plugin soon.

Also I should note that on other forums I've seen reports that some players — notably Roon and perhaps also WinAmp — don't like the hidden load balancing redirect in these new streams, and will only work if the listener replaces "stream" with "icy-6" or "icy-8" in the url.

Wasn't aware of any issues with the load balancer. But your solution on that is indeed correct. icy-4 and icy-5 will directly call our servers in London, icy-6 or icy-8 in Texas, icy-7 in Virginia.

The stream urls are an add-on for hardware players that can't /don't support our normal infrastructure. Definitely not a replacement.

Thanks Bill, in Volumio the trial version of the RP plugin works fine.
You have the option to listen directly from the API and also to solve the problems of cuts, you can pre download the block flac.
We'll see if Marco, the creator of the plugin considers implementing it using the direct download link, although I think that as is enough.
In this post the subject is discussed:
