This man is seriously unhinged. And Kurtster and all who voted for him, I am holding you personally accountable for any abuse this man commits. It is not as though he didn't give you enough warning signs.
edit: first i should have said that i understand your frustration (or i think i do )
americans like every other culture are conditioned/indoctrinated from state controlled schooling at an early age to praise the state regardless
so big statist (democrats and republicans) are held out as the only choice (anything else is widely considered throwing your vote away)
i think this explains obviously horrible political decisions (morality and ethics are redefined to fit state aggression)
so what is torture?

George Orwell’s classic book “1984,” about a dystopian future where critical thought is suppressed under a totalitarian regime, has seen a surge in sales this month, rising to the top of the Amazon best-seller list in the United States and leading its publisher to have tens of thousands of new copies printed.
...
In the novel, the term “newspeak” refers to language in which independent thought, or “unorthodox” political ideas, have been eliminated. “Doublethink” is defined as “reality control.”

Dystopian novels are “chiming with people,” Ms. Harrison said, adding that “The Man in The High Castle” by Philip Dick, an alternative history in which the Nazis defeated America to win World War II, is also selling well. A television series based on Mr. Dick’s novel is now in its second season at Amazon.
I highly recommend the Amazon series "The Man In The High Castle."
“You’re running for President,” Schwartz said. “I disagree with a lot of what you’re saying.”
“That’s your right, but then you should have just remained silent. I just want to tell you that I think you’re very disloyal. Without me, you wouldn’t be where you are now. I had a lot of choice of who to have write the book, and I chose you, and I was very generous with you. I know that you gave a lot of speeches and lectures using ‘The Art of the Deal.’ I could have sued you, but I didn’t.”
“My business has nothing to do with ‘The Art of the Deal.’ ”
“That’s not what I’ve been told.”
“You’re running for President of the United States. The stakes here are high.”
“Yeah, they are,” he said. “Have a nice life.” Trump hung up.
The how and why of how he came to be President is more of a topic for moot courts and future historians. You yourself advised Democrats to "get over it", now you're trying to foment a culture of blame and scapegoating; lamenting the cause is the opposite of "getting over it". I am not concerned with the autopsy of Hillary's campaign or the DNC, but I am concerned with a President and his mouthpieces who have no respect for truth in general and facts in particular.
There are places where opinions can be in conflict and be correct. Two blind men can describe an elephant as a snake and a tree and both be correct. But there are some objective facts that that are not up for discussion, if one of the blind men believes that he can survive being stepped on by the elephant, he is wrong and when put to the test he will suffer. Many people will figure this out soon.
Yes, there can be an alternative truth or truths (though "alternate" is probably a better word), depending on perception, interpretation, or opinion; there cannot be "alternative facts", those would be "delusions".

I believe it was you who regularly voiced your support and vote for Trump as being partly based on the theory that his assuming office would at least blow up the system and allow us to start over. Something about it being our only hope.
He also made the laughable claim that because he was rich* he wouldn't be beholden to anyone once he got in. *yet to be proven for meaningful values of rich.
Y'all can say what you want about Trump. You can also blame Trump's election entirely on the DNC. If they hadn't rigged their primaries against Bernie, we would be talking about President Sanders, not Trump. All the polls showed that he would've creamed Trump in the general.
Y'all should be mad with your party for getting Trump elected, not Trump. It was the DNC's own damn fault.
Independents are another matter. Your interests are too diluted to have an impact at present.
Those who voted for Trump had to survive the last 8 years, so those who didn't will have to take their turn at surviving the next 8. Or you can burn the house down cuz you didn't get your way. Just like Madonna wants to do ...
