I just kept visualizing the eclipse on Tuesday night....dark into light and all that.....sigh

An exact to the second coincidence is probably never going to happen.  The solstice is a function of the earths rotation around the sun whereas eclipses are governed by the moons rotation about the earth and the two cycles are independent.

i'm seeing conflicting information as to exactly when winter solstice is this year. 

one website says clearly that it's tuesday night,  http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/december-solstice.html ,

another says clearly it's just after midnight, tuesday MORNING,

so....

that's a bit too broad of a disparity to just take a swing at it and call it one night or the other...it's a full 24 hour disparity.  or maybe i am totally mis understanding "coordinated universal time," which i've never heard of before.

my calendars all say it's 12/21...even the lunar calendar.   but, if it's after midnight monday night/tuesday morning, then it still is the 21st—-but one would need to celebrate it on Monday night instead of Tuesday, after it's all over.....

but two of the three sources above say it's tuesday night.....

based upon previous information that i had, i was planning my observance for tuesday night, but now it appears that may be the wrong day...or not.....  GAH!!!
