*edit* Sorry, Ann Bancroft is in the film as a famous actress, but Dr. Treves wife is played by Hannah Gordon, and it is when he humbly presents to them a photograph of his Mother that his humanity is truly revealed, and the woman is overwhelmed by her own open heart. Unfortunately, the TCM clip cuts the end of the scene prior to that moment.

Now,  if I only knew how to clip the Ad off...

I am not a David Lynch fan, but that movie is heartbreakingly good. Brilliant use of B&W cinematography.

Two great movies were on last night; Gregory's Girl and The Elephant Man.

I had forgotten how powerful David Lynch's Elephant Man was.

The scene where Hopkin's character (forgot the doctor's name) brings Merrick home to meet his wife (Ann Bancroft) and she is emotionally overwhelmed with his gentle beauty and sense of grace in spite of his affliction is for me one of the most powerful movie scenes I know of.

John Hurt was fantastic in that role.

{#Yell}One of my favorite movies. Giulietta Masina is so charming in this. I wonder if Amelie was at least partially inspired by this classic:

The restored version of L'Atalante looked really good.

Humor, pathos, eroticism, romance, melancholy, all in one really well done movie. Who could ask for more?
