Had the unmitigated gall to perform, live, the entire Lamb Lies Down album in front of the Progstock conference, and pulled it off. Considered as a ânewâ Genesis lead singer, but then stupidly, accidentally, killed himself - or someone was there and left the scene. Left behind some extraordinary music, so good that this band performed his whole âShaming of the Trueâ album live.

Audrey's home for a couple of weeks and we were visiting last night. It's come up before that she, Claire and hiccup can be difficult to tell apart on the phone. So, she says "I sound like mom when I speak, but I realize that I sound like you when I sing. But maybe that's a stylistic choice." Which, of course, is a nice compliment but does not explain the amount of eye rolling and open contempt from she and her sister every single time I picked up my guitar when they were growing up.

Well, her father and uncles were singers, so it's probably not as unlikely as it seems as first glance.
Right, but they were estranged early on (having absorbed some of Justine's TeeVee program) so ... nature not nurture? I suspect that most people with the talent to make it in Hollywood can probably sing and dance too, they just don't have the chance (or need) to once they've made it.
Proclivities mentioned Peter Gunn in another thread. I'm a massive Mancini fan and wonder what would've come of him having been born a little later and being more rock n roll.
A couple of decades ago, my best friend surprised me with the Bacharach's hits package "The Look of Love" and the Mancini's "Days of Wine and Roses" 3 CD box of hits. The essence of a great gift: you could've given me a couple of hundred dollars, turned me loose in a CD store, and I wouldn't have thought to buy it. But I love it!
The original Henry Mancini version is superior, IMO. I watched the show with my Dad as a little kid but I only remember the theme song. It may be why I fell in love with brass at a young age. Really young lol. Also Jimi Hendrix has an interesting version on the posthumously released War Heroes LP. Hendrix style.
