I put up a better version. Oddly the first one, which was cut up, was apparently the official Sixpence site, but maybe it's just a fan site. Either way, edits like that bug me because they just leave them up there instead of making corrections. What reason could there be?
To get under a time limit for some particular program, probably. The frustrating part is the technology exists to make that cut perfectly but they used some safety scissors and store brand bandaids.

Yeah, she does do a high falsetto - probably an octave-or-so jump - for the first part of the line, then drops down about two octaves from there for the last bit. She could do falsettos well (without straining), though that also annoyed a lot of folks.
I was referring to the very last bit (around 2:08, just before she giggles). Does she go up an octave there? I thought that was the bit Scott was referring to.

Nice version. As far as I recall, Joni's original version is in E (she also used an open D tuning with a capo on the second fret). It looks like they're playing it in D (with standard tuning), a key one full tone lower than Joni's. That singer can hit the high notes pretty well, aside from Joni's high notes it's hard to hit those low notes that Joni sang as the last phrase.
meanie. that is maybe a little unfair. If I'm not mistaken (unlikely, cos my musical ear is back in the Stone Age) Joni is a whole octave higher. Funny thing about this duo is the songs they choose to cover. These are the songs that I grew up with.
