If the right has learned anything from Trump 1.0, it's in naming things.
âWokeâ is brilliant in its simplicity. It gives less informed people a sense of intellectual or moral awareness without requiring a deep understanding of what's truly included/excluded. It compresses complex social issues into a single, self-validating label, letting users feel enlightened while blithely ignoring nuance, reflection, or engagement with difficult truths and the reality of others. Empathy need not apply.
Fake news, cancel culture... MAGA has several triggers that all mean "own the libs": facts, reality, intelligence, logic, and empathy be damned.
It's no wonder many feel so threatened by these simple terms!?

I know many people who hold asinine (usually political) opinions, yet they themselves are not assholes.
They just aren't "smart" enough to ask the right questions...or, understanding of themselves enough to know they are not smart enough, and therefore should do more to understand or at least defer any opinion. (ps, for this reason i prefer to have the "elite" run our systems).
Too often, people will attack or mock what they don't understand from a false sense of confidence.
The more we learn and know, the lower our confidence level....which those who don't or are unwilling to understand will only attack as a weakness.
A guy I went to college with was brilliant and a good guy. He is now a Trumper.
Awareness? I donât know. Makes me wonder what happened to him, the guy I knew in college.

A few really well made, critical points.
It's now somehow become sexy or affirming to tell everyone you're stupid, selfish, and/or a racist.
You think, at some point, how much worse could it actually be? The lack of awareness for some of the responses in that article was shocking.
I used to believe in really trying to see their perspective and at least allow the frame even if I didn't understand it. But they don't give the same leeway, and I've found enough baffling logic to conclude that the argument's aren't genuine, for the most part they just revel in being a bully/asshole. I've cut many of them out of my life and I instant lose respect for anyone in a hat. It's really surprising how many of them are in Mexico, and even more baffling how many are comfortable openly disparaging the people and country. I've had to walk away from several - there is no point in that engagement.

That was ten minutes i'll never get back...
This is why I've given up trying to talk to Magas and many on the other side of the argument.
Either they are not willing to have an honest conversation or not intelligent enough - meaning they haven't actually spent enough or any time looking into the issues, ramifications, legality...and instead fall back to their (often emotional) opinion of what is happening.

11 Pro-Trump Republican Voters on What They Like So Far and What They Don't
It's pretty amazing to read. Spoiler alert: they generally think he's doing a great job.

Ah, right. It didn't look like he was capable of putting that together but I never got a grasp on what it was supposed to be. Maybe if the dude lost a few, I'd get the joke.
Then there was this guy counter-protesting at a "Hands off" rally in Cody Wyoming. His name is also Cody, and he's wearing an inexplicable getup that includes a crotch-level Trump head. TDS is strong in this one.
