I find watching the news and arguing about politics & the Fourth Reich on social media to be emotionally draining & a waste of my time. Today I made contact with the Colorado Democratic Party to become a volunteer. The last time I did this was for the 2008 Obama campaign. Against the odds, we won my heavily Republican district, the state caucus, and the national election.
The next best chance to combat the insanity is the 2026 midterm elections. The presidential election was not the runaway mandate as is being claimed and the Republican House & Senate majorities are razor thin. Colorado is mostly a blue state but we do have our Boeberts, so lots of work to do here for our congressional seats. Meanwhile, as a military veteran I can man the national phone banks wherever they need me to talk to my brother & sister veterans.
I won't be here debating this here. I'm suiting up & showing up on the front lines.
My beautiful companion Sweetness passed peacefully yesterday after a brief battle with cancer. We came together 13+ years ago at a difficult time in my life. I rescued her at age 2 & we made a pact ... "I'll take care of you & you take care of me" ... and that's exactly what we did. She lived to almost 16 years old & had a safe, healthy, and loving life until the end.
I'm sad & will miss her terribly. But today I'm celebrating her life that I was privileged to share. She was the best & truly lived up to her name.
