INCREDIBLE just how one can get 'single-cell-organisms'  to react to some reasoning which usually lies beyond their scope:

Multiple Olympics 2024 athletes hospitalised after swimming in polluted Seine in nightmare for Paris organisers

What was the name again for a science-based, analytic change of thought... uhm... a paradigm-shift?

You Umrican Libells.. shift this °

(I know you can't.)

There have been several races this year where the leaders were tracked down and beaten.  The Dutch mixed 400 relay (Femke Bol) made up 10 meters+ on the final turn and home.  Where Cole Hocker found that extra gear... just amazing.

Looking forward to the Bol vs. Sydney McLaughlin 400 meter hurdles final.  They both run with an ease that is shockingly fast.

What's with the puddle of water in the steeplechase.  Why not run the entire race in a track of shallow water? You wouldn't even need all those hurdles. There could even be different events at different depths of water.

There might even be a depth of water that requires a combination of leg and arm strength. Not deep enough to swim but deep enough that some arm propulsion is effective. I'm imagining this competition and its better than synchronized diving.

French pole vaulter becomes internet sensation after his manhood costs him chance at Olympic medal

Makes you wonder how popular his room will be back at the dorms...

FTA:

The camaraderie means the village becomes a “pretty wild scene, the biggest melting pot you’ve been in,” says Eric Shanteau, an American swimmer who appeared at the 2008 and 2012 Games.

“There’s a lot of sex going on,” former U.S. soccer goalkeeper Hope Solo once said. “I’ve seen people having sex right out in the open.”

Andrew Pink, Great Britain’s volleyball captain in 2012, told The Athletic: “We had 10 days competing and after that, it was a free-for-all. Our coaches left the village the next day and it was then up to you to do whatever you wanted. I didn’t see people for days, including my room-mate, they were all over the place. One guy from our team legitimately woke up in Wales after a night out in his Team GB kit.

Agreed and seconded. I've never thought two people trying to beat each other's brains out was a sport.
