I'm really not a fan of the Manfred Man, but I guess it would have ended with a Dodgers win anyway. Yes I watched a Dodger game since the Giants were off. Marlins came from 0–5 to tie it up with a grand slam but LA executed perfect baseball to win in the 10th.

I was waiting for the replay where Krukow says "right here between second and third is where he starts leakin' oil..." because he was gassed. That bellyflop onto home was awesome.

Yeah, the last time it happened it was the Braves who lost the game; I guess they rectified that yesterday.

Yes. But also he's 50# heavier than he used to be.
However his vocabulary seems to be expanding because when the manager came to get him, he let go a string of not-very-nice terms that kept going until he was in the dugout.

edit: he's made $420 million. I don't think I could cuss about anything if I was sittin' on a mountain like that.

The Torpedo bats

There was a big discussion when Barry Bonds was hitting so many home runs; his bat was a 34, McGwire's was a bit longer and heavier but they were both shorter than the traditional "slugger" bats that were often max length and weight. The key for them was to increase bat speed. But Bonds actually choked up almost 2 inches! Any player who goes up to the plate with a 32" bat will get pitched outside all day long but for Bonds, they still made the mistake of coming inside to him.

So the Torpedo bats are doing this without sacrificing length BUT there aren't a lot of positive results that come from hitting a ball off that last 2" unless it's fouling off strike 3, so I'd be inclined to taper that end down to a point and have as much mass around the 18–28" zone, tapering down to a point. I wouldn't be so subtle and the overall length might be 32. That would get the bat speed up, increase the sweet spot by a lot, and if the batter's fooled by a pitch outside, he wouldn't even hit it into that double play...
