Actually, that's one of my techniques, although in the story I read as a kid it was a white bear. So telling myself not to think of a white bear makes me think of a white bear, which means I stop thinking about the thing I want to stop thinking about.

Sort of works

Just a thought:

Stickiness of the mind is the term we use for a biologically based trait that is experienced as repetitive looping thinking, a sense of getting mired in worry, a talent for imaginative flights into catastrophic images and thoughts, and a tendency for junk channels of the mind to get loud and insistent instead of simply flowing by. It is highly heritable, so it tends to run in families, and it is sensitive to stress such as fatigue, illness, or chronic conflict. It also increases with positive stress like excitement. Stickiness is not a sign of mental illness: it is a characteristic that, once understood, can be incorporated into a full and meaningful life.

One very interesting facet of sticky thoughts is that they do not respond to direct efforts to get rid of them. In fact, resisting these thoughts by arguing with them, distracting from them, trying to substitute other thoughts, seeking reassurance about them, recoiling in horror, or admonishing oneself simply results in their return or the intrusion of even more distressing thoughts.

Apparently the price of things was just so unbearable under Biden that he had to vote for Trump... who is working to ensure inflation returns strong and fast.  On those facts, it'll be all crickets....   Later.... I'm out.    He might as well say "guilty as charged so I'm leaving", but his imperial highness says to never admit defeat.

One complaint I see over and over again is that Musk is now running the country.  I disagree.

But at least we see who is thought to be running the country now.

During the last four years Biden was, but he sure as hell wasn't running the country and none of you know who was and can say who was.

This is what you get for playing Weekend at Bernie's in real life.

You all might consider going commando for the next two years to keep from getting your undies in a bunch while you wait for the midterms.

Or pray that the next guy gets a better shot off.  But then you get J D ...

Don't call me unless you really want to hear from me.  And the way things are going I'll likely not respond.  For the same reason that Dave has chosen not to respond to me.

Twist and dangle in the breeze.  You'll get used to it.

Bye, bye.

I thought you were going away?

Guess not...

Isn't it time to go reengineer the sound of some rare, shoddily pressed, Eastern European distributed ABBA album or some such?

BTW... you are on the losing side too... but just too indoctrinated to realize it.

We will see. I say your identity here is inextricably tied to your reflexive support of all things Trump. You won’t be able to resist. You already have come back again to say “bye bye.” On the other hand, maybe even you are beginning to realize what is happening now is indefensible.

So, as expected, you have no real ideal or goal beyond making others uncomfortable. You somehow think it will improve your pathetic station if all those people who are actually doing something get dragged down.

Even if you succeed,  they will get back up, and you will still be an asshole.  All you accomplish is further sullying any legacy you may have. But it doesn't matter to you, because any family, or people yiu may have cared about have long abandoned you.  They are right, you suck.

You discount other people's news sources all the time anyway. Easy enough for you to find out that this is correct by checking your news sources or maybe the government's information. Oh, sorry, the government is scrubbing all the places you could find out what is going on there.

I will call RD to task for giving you an easy way to discount the messenger so you don't have to deal with the actual truth that you are once again supporting a violent sexual predator.

I don't respond to kurtster because I decided some time ago he's a lost cause.
