Russia showed their contempt for TFG by broadcasting pictures of his naked wife/"First" (really third) "Lady" while saying he's going to be the next President.
I'm very surprised they didn't include the pictures of him fellating his microphone or sitting proudly in a garbage truck.

Trump Is Planning a Presidency of, by, and for the Rich
Now that the “pro-worker” GOP led by Donald Trump holds the reins of government, what does it plan to do? A program of handouts for big business and austerity for the rest of us.

For those of  you interested in talking tariffs:

Tariff Tracker: Tracking the Economic Impact of the Trump-Biden Tariffs

June 26, 2024

Key Finding

  • The Trump administration imposed nearly $80 billion worth of new taxes on Americans by levying tariffs on thousands of products valued at approximately $380 billion in 2018 and 2019, amounting to one of the largest tax increases in decades.
  • The Biden administration has kept most of the Trump administration tariffs in place, and in May 2024, announced tariff hikes on an additional $18 billion of Chinese goods, including semiconductors and electric vehicles, for an additional tax increase of $3.6 billion.
  • We estimate the Trump-Biden tariffs will reduce long-run GDP by 0.2 percent, the capital stock by 0.1 percent, and employment by 142,000 full-time equivalent jobs.
  • Altogether, the trade war policies currently in place add up to $79 billion in tariffs based on trade levels at the time of tariff implementation and excluding behavioral and dynamic effects.
  • Before accounting for behavioral effects, the $79 billion in higher tariffs amounts to an average annual tax increase on US households of $625. Based on actual revenue collections data, trade war tariffs have directly increased tax collections by $200 to $300 annually per US household, on average. Both estimates understate the cost to US households because they do not factor in the lost output, lower incomes, and loss in consumer choice the tariffs have caused.
  • Candidate Trump has proposed significant tariff hikes as part of his presidential campaign; we estimate that if imposed, his proposed tariff increases would hike taxes by another $524 billion annually and shrink GDP by at least 0.8 percent, the capital stock by 0.7 percent, and employment by 684,000 full-time equivalent jobs. Our estimates do not capture the effects of retaliation, nor the additional harms that would stem from starting a global trade war.
  • Academic and governmental studies find the Trump-Biden tariffs have raised prices and reduced output and employment, producing a net negative impact on the US economy.

I have grave doubts but would be very happy to be proven wrong.

1 day down and counting..

Biden's hands were tied on aid to Ukraine by the GOP. Even Mitch McConnell admitted it.

Why would Trump do anything for Ukraine? IIRC Paul Manafort, Trump's former campaign manager, was having discussions with Putin's subordinates about forcing Ukraine to give up sections of its eastern territory to Russia.

Trump hates Ukraine. He was convinced by Giuliani that the country was hiding DNC servers and was involved with trying to surveil his campaign.

Trump is a coward. He bows to dictators like Putin and won't risk his poll numbers on giving Ukraine more aid. He might also go ahead and try to pull the US out of NATO.

Don't expect Trump to extend himself on stabilizing or ending war zones in Europe or the Middle East. I don't have a lot of faith that he'll continue US support of Taiwan.

You really should prepare yourself for Trump creating or supporting destruction and/or degradation of international and domestic institutions. He doesn't know what he's doing, he's convinced he's infallible, and he's senile.

Remember Game of Thrones  and the Mad King,

Aerys II Targaryen  ?

That's what we've got now.

The power of statistics.  Until you look a little bit harder.  And only just a little bit harder.

Using the good ole inflation calculator ... in 2017, $1Trillion = $1Trillion  in 2023 that $1Trillion now equals $1.24 Trillion. A 24.31% increase.

Next ...

Edit: just out of curiosity I went further.  The inflation rate from 2017 to 2021 was 2.54%. The inflation rate from 2021 to 2023 was 6.04% per year.

Congratulations on using a calculator, now let me help you understand your math.

If a dollar today is equal to $1.24 in 2017... that's a DECREASE.

Question:  When do you think Trump will claim "the greatest economy ever" again?  April?  June?  Whenever he does, it'll be completely attributable to the Biden Presidency.  He'll say it until he leaves the White House... regardless of how much damage his policies do.

Bonus ...

Bonus is extra, not part of a guaranteed thing.  The wages are a guaranteed thing.

You cannot become dependent or take for granted on something that is not guaranteed.

Years ago in the late 80's, I worked for an outfit called Swagelok.  They had an attendance bonus that kept on increasing up to a certain maximum amount.  I think that it was $500 per month.  That was a lot of money back then.  They pushed it and pushed it.  Be late just 1 minute once and it was reset back to zero.  There were a number of employees who became so dependent on it that they ended up missing weddings, funerals and in some cases being with their spouses during surgeries, child births.  Other things of meaning.

I didn't bite.  I let it build up and then consciously effed up to get it reset just so I would not become dependent on it.  The other problem is that when you had a performance review, your tardies, all of them even if it was only one, were brought up and held against you.  They didn't like me much cuz I wouldn't play along.

Be happy that the company cited above was looking towards the future so that all the employees could still have a job and get the wages that they were supposed to get and be able to depend on.  That is the glass half full.
