This is what dementia looks like. Remember that Trump was giving a prepared speech, so he had time to gather facts and deliver a coherent speech. This is the best he could do.

72 minutes. 72 minutes of live, worldwide delirium.
72 minutes in which the President of the United States confused Greenland with Iceland. Multiple times. While explaining why he wants to buy it.
72 minutes in which he threatened a NATO ally, Denmark, with these words: âYou can say yes, and weâll appreciate it. You can say no, and weâll remember it.â
72 minutes in which he called Greenland âa piece of iceâ on which the fate of the Earth would depend: âWhat Iâm asking for is a piece of ice in exchange for world peace.â
72 minutes in which he declared that he has â100% Scottish blood and 100% German blood.â Which would make 200%. But evidently math is not his strong suit.
72 minutes in which he claimed that the United States, after World War II, âgave Greenland back to Denmark.â Too bad thatâs false. The United States never owned Greenland. Never. In 1916 they officially recognized Danish sovereignty. During the war they only obtained temporary military bases. And in 1946 they tried to buy it by offering 100 million dollars. Denmark said no. There was no âgiving back.â
72 minutes in which he claimed that âChina has no wind turbines.â China. The country that for 15 consecutive years has been the worldâs largest producer of wind energy. The one that builds 45% of all wind projects on the planet.
But for Trump, âthey donât have fields of windmills.â They sell them âto the stupid.â
72 minutes in which he said that âall the big oil companies are coming with us to Venezuela.â Too bad that three days earlier the CEO of ExxonMobil told him to his face that Venezuela is ânot investible.â Too bad Trump got furious and threatened to exclude Exxon. Too bad the other companies are standing on the sidelines, terrified.
But at Davos he said âtheyâre all coming.â
72 minutes in which he claimed that âthere is practically no inflationâ in the United States. U.S. inflation is at 2.7%. Above the Fedâs target. Forecast to rise because of his own tariffs.
But for him, âthere is practically none.â
72 minutes in which he attacked the Chairman of the Federal Reserve, calling him âstupidâ and âJerome too-late Powell.â Live. In front of world economic leaders.
72 minutes in which he told the story of imposing tariffs on Switzerland out of spite, because âa womanâ whose name he doesnât remember âpetted him the wrong way.â
72 minutes in which he said that âyesterday the market crashed because of Iceland.â Iceland. A country with 380,000 inhabitants. That supposedly made Wall Street collapse.
72 minutes in which he claimed that the United States âpaid 100% of NATO.â 100%. When the American share of the NATO budget is about 16%.
But for him, 100%.
72 minutes in which he mispronounced Azerbaijan as âAber-bajian.â
72 minutes of stream of consciousness. Of easily verifiable lies. Of made-up numbers. Of threats to allies. Of insults to officials. Of geographical blunders. Of boasts contradicted by facts.
And the world, in silence, watched.
Watched the President of the worldâs greatest power confuse two nations, threaten Denmark, insult the Fed, lie about Venezuela, invent inflation data, deny the existence of the Chinese wind industry.
72 minutes.
And to think that once, for far less, political careers would end.
Today, instead, we just move on to the next delirium.

âIâm helping Europe, I am helping NATO, and until the last few days when I told them about Iceland, they loved me,â he said. However, it is Greenland that is at the center of the trans-Atlantic tensions over Mr. Trumpâs repeated threats to seize the territory. .
âThe problem with NATO is that weâll be there for them, 100 percent, but Iâm not sure that theyâll be there for us,â the president continued. âTheyâre not there for us on Iceland, that I can tell you. Our stock market took the first dip yesterday because of Iceland. So Icelandâs already cost us a lot of money.â The markets dipped on Tuesday over the tensions on Greenland.
"... it was not the first time that the president has retreated from his tariff plans, particularly in the wake of a strong market reaction. Since the beginning of his trade war, he has taken an on-again, off-again approach with some of his most punishing duties."
Take a look at the market swing of 2% down, now trying to recover from the lying senile rapist felon's inability to think clearly. He frames international relations in the context of PERSONAL relations. "Oh, we get along fine. He's nice." or the opposite. This is, obviously, not how to run a giant nation or an international interrelationship. He's completely inept.

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
Four-score Men and Four-score more,
Could not make Humpty Dumpty where he was before.
It is crazy to be witnessing these things unfold. I honestly thought I'd work another year, retire and enjoy my kids, work in my garden and now I'm thinking, great, just when my retirement fund gets paid out, war breaks out in Europe and I might lose the whole damn lot. /pessimism
But what is actually happening here?
From my perspective it looks like this:
Trump doesn't have a chance to win the mid-terms.
ergo, he'll manufacture a crisis to stay in power somehow..i.e. sideline congress (is this even possible under US law /martial law?).
which then poses the question:
will the American public tolerate this?
does Trump have enough support / military might to impose his will ?
The techbros are heavily invested in this enterprise and have scary resources at their disposal. What will they do?
Is this going to end in some kind of massive implosion? Will it just wilt like a head of lettuce?
I really don't know.
My gut feeling is that this whole episode is reaching its final scene and is about to implode. But I really don't know what the final outcome will be. Europe's far right is suddenly having to confront the fact that their hero (Trump) is actually going to take their land, which changes the equation somewhat. Just like the reality of living under a Russian regime would very quickly lose its appeal. Will that make us a better people? Bring us together? Somehow, that doesn't feel very plausible either..
Looks like we have been fated to live in interesting times.

I'd like to see you guys take on the pressure of being president at nearly 80
Most of us aren't so self-centered and/or clueless to think we could run the entire USofA at that age, but I get that you were joshing.
Which tells you that it's nonsense that this underachieving student (won't show his grades), multiple convicted felon, adjudicated rapist, senile embarrassment, even bothered to run - and tells you something about the folks that thought it would be a good idea for him to lead the nation.
Right now, nothing objective tells you that they were right. Everything is empty promises while he enriches himself and his family and destroys the nation just a like a Russian agent would..
Thatâs exactly the point⦠he canât stand up to the pressure. It is well past time he left.
it was a joke...whatever trumps age, he's incompetent and should have been impeached to avoid this whole mess.
Thanks Mitch and the rest of the republicants
