It's tough when someone who has hurt the nation so much deserves some sympathy. Hard to muster it up, really.

Poor Laura Ingraham, the delicate snowflake.

The Fox News Channel manure-thrower has taken some time off, having been blasted right out of her cable-TV battlefield command post by a bunch of high school kids.

Such a satisfying outcome. And Ingraham, accustomed to siccing Fox's army of far-right orcs against the liberals and moderate conservatives they hate with such slavering intensity, plainly didn't see it coming, which made it all the more enjoyable to watch.

Ingraham, who began her career in university outing gay students, probably thought David Hogg, a 17-year-old survivor of the recent Florida high school massacre, would crumple, or maybe start crying — you know, the way sensitive liberals tend to do — when she unleashed one of her ad hominem attacks on him, mocking him for being rejected by UCLA. A pundit mocks a kid who survived a mass shooting at his school because he didn't get into some colleges, despite a 4.1 GPA. (Anything to deflect the conversation from guns and gun violence, right Laura?)

Some of her advertisers cancelled their spots on her show because of her comments.

And you get a hardon from speculating that those firms are going to lose customers because those companies don't want to underwrite Ingraham's obnoxious and irrelevant put-down.

Don't you have anything better to do with your time?

Kindly stop trying to put words in my mouth.

My commentary is that these kind of boycotts don't end well - for the advertisers. Mark my words.

I'm not passing any judgement on what an opinion host has to say, on this day or any other. If we were to engage in that game, we'd be flaming every opinion host on every broadcast outlet, forevermore.

If you want to play the game of standing by the latest cause du jour, you go right on ahead. Because that game never ends. Ever.

Now don't you have anything better to do?

This is not such a time.

And Mr. Hogg has over-reached.  By a whole lot.  He's soon going to embarrass his Dem backers.

You seem to be implying that he is a puppet for the Democratic party and that he actually gives a rip what they think. I expect he thinks, correctly, the Democrats have failed to address the gun issues. I say good on him for standing up for himself. And whether or not it actually affects Fox's bottom line, he has leveraged his voice into greater pressure on them.

I'm unimpressed with any company that advertised on her show in the first place.

Advertising revenue isn't peanuts for such channels, it's almost their raison d'être.

And product boycotts go two ways, i.e. for those consumers outside the Fox spectrum as well. Keep advertising there and your brand appears to continue to support scum. So it then becomes a matter of demographics (and where future profits may come from). And not only US demographics, because the garbage (along with the brand "news") also gets exported, and thus it may affect a brand's reputation internationally...

PS: Whether people actually take action after being outraged is another story.

It's a simple matter of math.  How much revenue to Fox News are we actually talking about, say over a three month period?  Uh huh.

Now take x hundred's of thousands of pissed off fans, who cancel and swear off your product forevermore.  Boom.

In for a penny, in for a pound, folks.

Those advertisers bought the time because they coveted the huge numbers that watch her show at that programming hour.  Those same huge numbers - and more - are now motivated to punish those advertisers.  Many examples of precedence in similar circumstances exist.  See also past advertisers 'boycotts' of Hannity's show.  That worked out so well for those who sought the boycott, dinna it?
