Those cards are from 1915 and were drawn by a woman named Grace Drayton, who also "created" the Campbell's Soup Kids.   Hmm: They're for sale on eBay.

that's why they look familiar.

anyway, the penmenship is pretty amazing, too.

A battle-ready, Medieval Barbie suits up in 3-D armor

Barbie can now slay your dragons, and she'll look fabulous doing it.

Through a successful Kickstarter campaign, one super-nerd dad in Wisconsin has designed a 40-piece medieval armor kit for Barbie that can be made on a 3-D printer.

"I feel it is essential to respect Barbie's character. You can't make an ugly suit of armor and expect Barbie would be caught dead in it," Jim Rodda told CNBC on Tuesday.

Okay then. I'm glad you cleared that up.

I'm still amazed that Diana Krall is married to Elvis Costello. I always assumed she was destined to hook up with Kenny G and that their firstborn would be the Antichrist of jazz.

She's got an interesting voice...

If she had the right producer, she could be good.

I'll give credit where credit is due. She's better than Diana Krall - which is another way of saying she isn't the blandest singer to ever step foot in a professional recording studio - but she still lacks the grit and emotional honesty to pull off a successful Waits cover. If there's ever an opening at an airport lounge, I'm sure she could fill it admirably.

Not bad. With some(more?) training she could have a really strong voice. Depending on the songs and arrangements it could work. After listening to this I'd like to hear what she could do with "In The Neighborhood" or "On The Nickle".

I confess I'm surprised at the depth of her voice, and her phrasing..which is a big kitschy, but not overwhelming I don't think....we'll see what comes of the Tom Waits venture...
