Opening Day visitor

Posted by bokey - Apr 6, 2015 - 7:47pm
Pops passed away March 7th and since today is April 6,I guess it's been a month exactly(and exactly 2 months since I sprained my knee.).
I've been slowly cleaning up,starting with the out and out Health Department SWAT team worthy stuff and working my way up.I finally got the sunroom looking almost non hospitality but since it's opening day for baseball and I'm still waiting on help to move some furniture,I just pushed the hospital bed into the corner and grabbed a couple chairs and a table for my laptop and set them up in front of the TV in the space where the bed used to be.
I opened all the windows and curtains and since I still can't carry anything up steps I couldn't replace the storm door with the screen,so I just propped it open around noon and jumped in the shower before the game.
Anyway, when I came out to watch the game, one of Pops friends had let themselves in for a visit.

Shit! Pops left his Czechoslovakian Army blanket,I'm gonna take a nap.

Hey,do you mind not throwing shit?I'm trying to sleep here!

Holy shit,do I smell apricots?

Smaug the Squirrel arises to guard his treasure.(I've had to take over naming them in Pops absence)

Are they doing baseball AGAIN this year?(Pops annual opening day saying)

You gonna pass that spliff or what?

What else you got to eat around here?I'm high as shit!

The red eyed part is my fault, but Pops must've taught them to poop on the floor just to spite me after he was gone.
I don't mind if a sentient being wants to make the conscious choice to alter their natural state, but it's still not an excuse for taking a dump on the floor.

Chewing bread over an electrical cord is OK,just no climbing trees or running out in the road.

You think this is bad?You should see how they trash the place after a few beers. They're like the Worms from Men In Black.

Actually, maybe it was Pops spirit in the form of a squirrel dropping by to cheer me up on the first day of his cave being all but dismantled.Plus I tend to get melancholy on Opening Day because I know there are only 6 months of baseball left.It made itself right at home in the space where Pops spent the last year bedbound within hours of it being cleared out and it was limping a little,I've got about 20 minutes of video.Little fucker distracted me from Opening Day,you know it was different.

Yeah, Bokey, 161 to go.  It doesn't really hit me until about Memorial Day that the season is winding down.
 Twins lost their opener too.

Pops was probably concerned about you, so before he left he told his buddy to make sure and check on ya:

"If he makes it to Opening Day I know he'll be OK, so make sure you go visit. Show up right before the first pitch, cuz he'll be in a good mood."

Smaug.

And sorry about the Nats score. I had just wondered if they'd leave Scherzer in for 9 when they got to him. So it was my fault.
