Only you know and I know
All the loving we've got to show
So don't refuse to believe it
By reading too many meanings
'Cause you know that I mean what I say so don't go
And never take me the wrong way
You know you can't go on getting your own way
'Cause if you do, it's gonna get you someday, yeah.
We're both here to be pleasing
Oh no, not deceiving
But it'shard to believe in, aw yeah
When you've been so mistreated.
'Cause you know that I mean what I say so don't go
And never take me the wrong way
You know you can't go on getting your own way
'Cause if you do, it's gonna get you someday.
If I seem to mislead you
It's just my craziness coming through
But when it comes down to just two
Aw, I ain't no crazier than you
'Cause you know that I mean what I say so don't go
And never take me the wrong way
You know you can't go on getting your own way
'Cause if you do, it's gonna get you someday.
Only you know and I know
Only you know and I know
Only you know and I know, oh yeah
Only you know and I know, oh yeah, get up
All the loving we've got to show

This guitar always sounds like clapton to me

Don't know. Tuck & Patti did a cover of Little Wing but I'd have to research the Delaney and Bonnie connection. Wouldn't surprise me.

It's a great album. Look at You Look at Me is one of my all-time favourites.

Wasn't Steve Winwood the singer of Traffic? Dave Mason's voice sounds very familiar to me. Did he also sing songs in Traffic?
Maybe this helps: Dave Mason, Steve Winwood, and Jim Capaldi contributed Traffic vocals. Mason left the band early (my opinion) came back, and left again. He's often the 'forgotten' Traffic Man.

A song like this amazes me in that:
1. I really like it.
2. There’s nothing extraordinary going on, it’s just a really well written and executed (performed and produced) song.
This is horrible with headphones. That guitar far left and drums far right give me a headache.
i know this song came 1st, but i'm reminded of girlfriend by mathew sweet
This song is so well mixed and engineered. Amazing for 1970's tech.
Even if it's been remastered you know what they say: "garbage in, garbage out."
This is totally the opposite.

Good stuff to the Max!
He is still alive and playing. He does a great show in a very laid back fashion.
Wonderful album, at the same level of Traffic best.
Made in America. The inspiration. Blessed.

His signature tune. Great guitar.

sidenote:
It's Mason playing 12 string guitar on Hendrix's 'All Along The Watch Tower'

The whole dang album is great!
An appropriate album title for these days of lockdown.
D.M. one of the all-time underrated greats.
His own version of All Along the Watchtower is fantastic.

I'd love to hear Look at You, Look at Me from this brilliant album.

And this doesn't?!!! Oh, please! Stephen, get off your knees, and try to see the forest for the trees, my friend! Apparently he was a friend of Jimi Hendrix and played backing guitar on Jimi's "All along the watchtower" recording in England. That puts him firmly in rock royalty for me!
Saw him live a couple of years ago. Very good concert.
One of my favourite artists.
That is some good cooking there!

Truly an eternally jamming gem worthy of inclusion and frequent play in any collection! The guitar sizzles, and the associated memories play like movies... Thanks!

It is a great album; I guess it's "lost" or forgotten because it may sound a little too "dated" to a lot of folks or more likely because the program directors and DJs at most "Classic Rock" stations are too young to have heard it or too busy playing The Eagles, Bad Company, and Steve Miller. Oh, well, no matter.
The entire LP is a lost gem!
Can't understand why.
Note for note, the entire work a timeless keeper.

In every genre and every era there are the major players - who get most of the airtime and the lesser (because of overall output volume, quality or just unfortunate luck) who also put out some real gems. Dave Mason and this tune fall into the ladder.
He wasn't Clapton or Winwood, or even a great interpreter like Cocker, but he fell into the same era and genre.

While posting about another song on RP and half-listening to this in the background, I thought this was Clapton from Derek and the Dominoes or some Delaney and Bonnie sessions. You're right, lemmoth, Dave Mason got a bit lost in the mix--and in my memory.
Great memories listening to this! Love the energy!ðž

This is one of those songs which brings back memory of a single person. Make it stop... no, no play more... no stop, crap.
I can't believe there are only three Dave Mason tunes in the library. Such an underrated artist.
Ahhh, the memories this song brings back. Love hearing this song here.
Judging from the comments below, I'm embarrassed to admit that I don't know this song at all. It's not doing terribly much for me either. Still some of you must be pleased it's been played so soon after the last sighting, no?
OK, Bill got the 2013 play instance in just in time.
Listening to this makes me realize Delaney & Bonnie/Clapton didn't add much with their cover.

Gotta keep the "once every few years" comments going since it looks like this great song will never be played here.
Its been over 10 years, once a decade too much to ask ?

It\'s about time this got some airplay again.
