No one can see
The smoke from the sweet grass
Covers me
I am drawn
I am drawn to her
Like a moth to flame
She leads me down
Unbound
I am lost
I am lost
Has anybody seen me
I am lost
Oh nothing is forgotten
Only left behind
Wherever I am
She leads me down
Unbound
No borders
No fences
No walls
No borders
No fences
Unbound
Oh, listen for the night chant
Oh, listen for the night chant
Like a moth to flame
She leads me down
Unbound
No borders
No fences

Probably my rating isn't as high as it deserves it?
Maintaining this.. for Cynaera.
RIP Ann, the most eloquent poster, ever, on RP.
Maintaining this.. for Cynaera.
RIP Ann, RIP Robbie.
Like a great gift known by others but not to me until too recently, the mighty Robbie Robertson passed thru this world and graced it, made it better.
Well said.
RIP Robbie.
thanks for playing
I couldn't agree more. Haven't figured out if Mr. Robertson rapidly matured with more experience or the Band was holding him back... Either way, he is a joy in his later years.
eh?
It's amazing how I can love this album so much and dislike The Band. It's like his soul reinvented itself.

And do so to the music of this wonderful song.

You may be right. I like everything I've heard of Mr Robertson's solo career, and am surprised I wasn't exposed to this 20 years ago.
I agree!
Bill, let's hear some other cuts from it
I agree!
"The first producer Robertson considered for production of the album (title: Robbie Robertson; release: 1987) was fellow Canadian Daniel Lanois. After meeting up with several more potential producers, Robertson decided to work with Lanois because of their shared interest in experimentation. After Lanois finished a stage of the production work with U2 on what would become their album The Joshua Tree, Robertson let Lanois know that he was ready to begin work on the album."
There is a long history so your instincts were spot on though Daniel's influence was there but not his actual work as Bill noted.
It has a bit of his sound to it.
Produced by Robbie & Tim Gordine (who also produced the Syntax & Eastmountainsouth albums we play). Very nicely produced track.

Roger that.
They find it in Canada brother.... :-)

I think theirs would be "more borders, more fences"...
Hehe so true. Looks like Ryan is going to get primaried in '16..
Of course — so long as white corporate multi-millionaires making six figure wink-wink donations to tale-spinning prervaricating troglodyte candidates are the immigrants coming through the border fences. Kenyan Mexican Muslims from Jakarta with pre-existing conditions best not apply for visas or hire smugglers.
Glad to see him getting more play these past few days...
Wish he had more music available...
Thank you, RP...
Check out American Roulette
I think Tom Waits discovered tobacco in preschool.
Robbie's voice is so "limited".....but knowing that,he does well here with very good background singers and a great arrangement.
Indeed, just ask Leonard Cohen.
It has a bit of his sound to it.
Oh good grief.
Now that's funny!

Nice tribute, Scott.

He is very good.
He comes so close and should be over the line into the big time.
Why it's not is a deep mystery. He can play alongside the big stars... But the world is filled with those who should be the, could b, would be, -IF- only... So, I choose to do my bit by buying his music and playing it in the house... I also prattle on to online world...
You may have noticed

Miss you so much, Cynaera...
love this song...
Yeah, ain't we lucky on that count?! Mr. Robertson's solo stuff far outshines the group efforts.
Just sitting at the window with coffee growing cold... looking out
Maybe Tom Waits before he discovered tobacco.

The female vocals in the background and the subtle guitar playing...yea man!
My thoughts exactly. Very cool track.
glorified concert-film meant nooothing to me neither!
Same for Robbie Robertson's first album,
I bought for whatever reason right after his "BAND" split.
Just did not like it neither...
Till today!
Like this song a lot and wonder about my weird taste of the past!
EDIT:
Turns out this song is not from his first album! Is that an excuse..?
Cool tune like many of Robbie's. Had great voices with him in The Band but understands and works well with his own vocal limitations in his solo work.
Maybe Tom Waits before he discovered tobacco.
...the remix from his classic masters compilation is deeper and lusher than the original album mix on contact from the undeworld of redboy; they're both outstanding but i prefer the former...
Plays a pretty mean guitar too.
Yes, please.
check out peyote healing! Robbie has been around with bob dylan when he was a young lad! look at the documentarys of dylan, robbie is in the photos with shades. you know they did some partying in england!
...why do you always end up down at nick's café?..
Still like it, notwithstanding.
