I recall reading that Jon Lord (Deep Purple) and a member of IABD were either dating or married at the time and they traded songs. IABD wrote "Bombay Calling" and Purple took the riff and made "Child In Time" and Purple wrote "Hard Road (Wring That Neck)" and IABD took that one and made it "Don and Dewey".

Thank You for the info!
Ha! Only just read the older part of thread {#Cheesygrin}

Oh well, one for the "Covers better than the original" collection.
Jethro Tull? Not really.
Deep Purple "Child In time" yes.
Calling My Arse...Bombay have ripped this from Jethro Tull.

Even if Deep Purple `stole' it, I prefer their version over this. If this were a cover of Deep Purple's version, they'd get a 1. Now that this looks to be the original, I even more like the way DP adopted the song to give it the body they gave it to survive time. This tune does not. Sorry.

I just made the same comment to some one else, it is a blatatn rip off by Deep Purple and the kicker is I had the album It's a Beautiful Day, back in the day and listened to it a million times and never put it toghether until today! Hope you get this post in that you posted your original months ago. Sparke
Deep Purple's "Child in Time" first appeared on an album released in 1970--this song appeared on an album released in 1969. Now I gotta backscroll to see if someone's covered this already. . . EDIT: As someone did. Ah, well.

This must be the hooked on phonics version.
Bullets flying taking toll
I used to love this album! I had an original copy in vinyl (wish I still had it, worth about $75 now) but really this stuff hasn't aged very well. After the Seattle Invasion, this stuff got kinda lame.

Whats this? Sounds like one of those ringtones for handys... :|
Is it me or did I just hear a classic 60's californian band get ripped off. That sounded an awful lot like Deep Purples "Child In time"!!! Almost blatant!!! I was a failiar with Beautiful day esp. White Bird but not with this song, bring back the the times so I can be young again.

This one is an \"11\" IMHO.
thanks indeed for the flashback--to beautiful spring mornings in wood frame apartments in the student/hippie ghetto of Madison,Wisconsin circa 1970. Somehow the name of the band tended to suggest itself as the appropriate soundtrack for near perfect moments, and I actually preferred this cut to \"White Bird\" , whose lyrics were a bit intrusive for background music.

There were a couple of other good not-whitebird songs on that LP. Bulgaria, and the Girl With No Eyes as I remember. Once the LaFlammes broke up it they never did much of note. I just read the Amazon notes: very funny!

Love this song. Please play \"White Bird\" some time. I know it\'s the track that everyone has heard, but it\'s still great. I have the original vinyl. I\'m old.
Psychedelic relic? That\'ll be Uri Geller.
Bombay Calling was first. Check out the link below to a recent interview https://www.btinternet.com/~db.illustrations/review-files/mumbai-gillan-interview.htm It\'s a good track (brings back memories )
To the below comments - who cares? Its just a fun air guitar song. Pass the patchouli, Starshine! :D
If I\'m not mistaken, this was released BEFORE \'Child In Time\'... and although I was a HUGE Deep Purple fan; I think this piece has something over \'Child\'....
