Nobody ever GOT the girl in all of those prick teaser movies.

Outside, in the real world, there were lots of real girls - in the 60's sex was, shall we say, not a problem

YMMV

Everybody in my churches loves this music...

Very nice, a tasty song at the end of the day. Winding down in the office with a nice Garnacha.  Perfection.

Would love to hear some Gordon Dexter on RP!

LOL - it's still reminding me of the Breakfast at Tiffany's party scene — which I believe is the Henry Mancini song "Loose Caboose".  Although since this Charlie Parker song came out in 1949, it may have provided some inspiration for Mancini....?

More than the usual ascerbic wit from you, Mr. Riley. I didn't learn to appreciate jazz until very late in life, and even now, some things just completely leave me cold.  I agree that musical taste is subjective, and I really hate it if someone condemns me for not liking a certain song and then invalidates my reasons for not liking the song by telling me I'm narrow-minded or ignorant. It happens, and it's part of life (not the part that I really love, though.)

Here - take one of these {#Chillpill}. I'll join you (well, I had a couple of extras), and we'll just kick back and enjoy RP for what it is, and not for what it spawns (in the way of critics.)

I'm not being snobby or elitist.  I can understand people hating jazz or finding it grating, pretentious or annoyingly discordant.  But when someone says a piece like this is boring, I have the suspicion they want the station to play only what they like and the hell with everyone else, another type of "elitism", hence my response.  By the way, I like a lot of Abba's music.

Don't fret. They always seem to disappear after awhile. Kind of like the smell of cat sh*t. Just give it a little time. {#Roflol}
This isn't the Yardbird's most enlightning.  Perhaps Bill is trying to put something out there that is accessible (don't you love that word?) to most listeners while exhibiting the improvisation that is essential to jazz.

Isn't this the melody to "Walking in a Winter Wonderland"?  Maybe I'm just thinking that way because we already have three inches of snow outside and its only October 7th.  This has been one dreary year as far as weather goes.  Hardly broke above 70 all summer, and now we're getting snow earlier than its come in at least a decade or two.  Bah.

I am beginning to suspect that you have been abducted by aliens and had your hearing modified so that, not 90%, but 100% of everything you hear is crap. Kenny G? I don't get it, dude.

RP is an eclectic station. If you *don't* want to hear jazz (or any other of the various types of music they play here), listen to a single genre station.

This is fairly middle-of-the-road Bird (insert joke here). Maybe something like "Scrapple from the Apple" or "Au Privave" would be better for RP's audience?
Hep.

Love the 'Yardbird,' he gets better with age.
mmmmm, nice.
schweeet!
Nice choice! Could be a nice introduction to Bird for those who might be put off by his more "hardcore" be-bop pieces, but I would choose "salty peanuts" for a non jazz radio. Throw them in the deep end ...
Skip the fusion...this stuff winds me up.
