does sound like a late era sTRAITS track all the same - especially final 2 minutes. Could have easily been on Calling Elvis
a seldom played Knopfler jig - for no good reason!

A lot of trains this day, but I like it.

I've heard quite too much of Mark Knopfler here on RP. I do, however, stumble on something I haven't heard...and liked. This being one of them. Thanks for playing it. We're on a train kick now!!!! I'm predicting next..."Trains" by Porcupine Tree....maybe?
Phish-Knofler gravy train-Pictures of Nector-Nector's gravy fries! man- a segue Bill didn't even know about
This song owes a whole lot to JJ Cale. It will make do until I get to hear the real thing.
It's definitely Sonny

Nice to hear this. Sounds alot like Sonny Landreth on the slide guitar.
I have a VHS video of Knopfler, wherein Sonny is brought onstage as a guest artist. So this could well be Sonny.
This song is also available on the America's Sweethearts Soundtrack.
Although not on the soundtrack credits, I do believe it IS Sonny Landreth on slide since he does get credit on Mark Knopfler's 'Night in London' Live DVD which features this song.

Slidin' n' Glidin'. Very nice. Too bad it's out of print.

Sure sounds like three guitarists, one of whom is Sonny Landreth (left) and one who's Knopfler (middle). Who's the steel guitar player on the right?
I was thinking the same thing. MK is not really known for his slide playing. This is not bad on first listen. I expect we'll hear more of it.

Has a definite Sonny Landreth thing going on in it...
Mark ? He's .. I don't know, he's guitar is
Knopfler, mmh yeah Knopfler no doubt. A real Knopfler, I would recognize it with my head in a bucket. This is one of the "buy one get all", not really impressing only O.K.
Everything Mark Knopfler does just gets great.
likin' the slide!
The only thing that can stop the gravy train is
Chinese wheat gluten...
