Ape your father's sins, your mother's mood swings
To perfection
Fall into a spin, shed another skin
Strip away all your protection
Laugh at the wonder of it all
Laugh so loud you break the fall
And you see the gathering clouds
Cry at the sadness of the world
Cry so long you break its cold
And you hear the gathering sounds
Do everything you fear
In this there's power
Fear is not to be afraid of
Laugh at the wonder of it all
Laugh so loud you break your fall
And you hear the gathering sounds
Come, dip on in
Leave your bones, leave your skin
Leave your past, leave your craft
Leave your suffering heart
To perfection
Fall into a spin, shed another skin
Strip away all your protection
Laugh at the wonder of it all
Laugh so loud you break the fall
And you see the gathering clouds
Cry at the sadness of the world
Cry so long you break its cold
And you hear the gathering sounds
Do everything you fear
In this there's power
Fear is not to be afraid of
Laugh at the wonder of it all
Laugh so loud you break your fall
And you hear the gathering sounds
Come, dip on in
Leave your bones, leave your skin
Leave your past, leave your craft
Leave your suffering heart

Yes it is.
I think what Bill was going for with James was "howling" considering the previous set:
9:08 pm - Grateful Dead - Dire Wolf
9:04 pm - Los Lobos - Will the Wolf Survive
9:01 pm - Warren Zevon - Werewolves Of London
How about an owl set Bill?
Sympathy for the Devil - Rolling Stones
Who - The Who
Bad - U2
Black Horse and a Cherry Tree - KT Tunstall
Listen and you will hear...
i always thought the criticism of a song as being pretentious was itself pretentious, coming from an audio radience member after all... until i heard this! or is there a joke i have missed, hopefully?
Yuk. Someone make him stop.

Actually I feel that way about Rod Stewart!
Sounds like ABBA singing U2.

Medic! Somebody check his pulse.

I was reading through the comments before that bit started and couldn't imagine what the h3ll everyone was going on about.
Sounds like the result of a transmogrifier accident involving U2 and Ricky Ricardo.
And yet ... I sorta like it.
Not feeling it
Well done James!
Love this band.
Been a loooooong time.. great band!
Turn it up, up, UP!
Nope.
Never heard of this guy before. Could've stayed that way as far as I'm concerned. And what a choice of cover art!
just boring
Still a great song/album, all these years later.
I think I still have the CD I bought when this one was first released.. time to take it back out and reabsorb the beauty.
Waits until it's over, sound turned off.
Thank Goddess, it's over now. Wheww!
Yes, they lost me with the babalou stuff. Then, the mixture of noises got on my nerves.
yeah, the babaloo thing always threw me off, but other than that, i like this song and i love this band. their song writing is captivating. it always gets me.
I'm so glad to come here and see that I'm not alone in the Babaloo thing. What the heck is he really saying?
Way too much noise in this song! I'm getting dizzy from all the sounds and jodelling and wooooos....
Funny. I listened to this album for the first time in a long time last night and forgot how great it is -- especially this song.
I haven't heard this top-notch groove for a looong time. Great to hear it on RP.
This tune is right up there with Say Something and Laid. Excellent!
"Loooosseeee, you got some 'splainin' to do."

Do we have some 'splaining to do now?

I'm glad I'm not the only one here who was picturing Ricky Ricardo playing a conga drum and singing ba ba looooooooo.
Nice enough song, though.
You are not alone....

Totally! James have produced some outstanding material in their lifetime and provided me with a lot of good memories. :D
Stop yodeling or join Jewel for a norwegian duet.

Great music but I can't stand the lyrics .

Good tune otherwise.
I can't live....with or without you.....

Thank you RP for adding my upload. This song means so much to me, on a very personal and spiritual level. When life seemed too much for me to take, this song offered relief and helped me through even though the times seemed dark and without hope.

Man, I loved James in the 90s. What a great song. Funny thing is that I thought it was Blue Man Group at first too. Ha!

For the first few measures, I thought this was Blue Man Group!

I will, as soon as I get it back from someone I lent it to! And "Lost a Friend" is already uploaded...it just hasn't played yet.

oh yeah, and this is a great live album from their last UK tour...

Not their best song, but I cannot dis James.
Totally agree. James has been around all this time (since "Laid") but just not getting the attention they deserve here in the US. Also, with their last album ("Pleased to Meet You," IMHO one of their best...) they finally broke up. :(

Clueless
