Where do you want to be?
'Cos now you're trying to pick a fight
With everyone you need
You seem like a soldier
Who's lost his composure
You're wounded and play a waiting game
In no-man's land no-one's to blame
See the world
Find an old fashioned girl
And when all's been said and done
It's the things that are given, not won
Are the things that you want
Empty handed, surrounded by a senseless scene
With nothing of significance
Besides a shadow of a dream
You sound like an old joke
You're worn-out, a bit broke
An' askin me time and time again
When the answer's still the same
See the world
Find an old fashioned girl
And when all's been said and done
It's the things that are given, not won
Are the things that you want
You've got a chance to put things right
So how's it going to be?
Lay down your arms now
And put us beyond doubt
So reach out it's not too far away
Don't mess around now, don't delay
But that's the great thing about music - lots of interpretations.
c.
I can hear it in guitar throughout the song.
maybe non-materialistic is high on the list of qualities there...based on the rest of the lyrics.
So true, CoJo, I have this one at a 9.....and I'm finding I'm missing your comments....until you're back and even after....Long Live RP!!
Yup.
I like this too.
I heard it too. But, damn, I really like Gomez.

Yep
I thought it was some version of the song I hadn't heard, maybe a live version.
Yep! Makes me happy! Dancing around at work!
Yep
I am a huge Gomez fan and I have all of their CDs. Their all good, but I highly recommend Liquid Skin which I consider one of the 25 best CDs. It was by far their most successful. Gomez has not really gotten much praise from the critics though, so I have always been surprised at how much they are played here. It is one of the major considerations I stick with this station. I mean, I love them, but not many other people seem to love them like Bill and I do.
I was looking forward to hearing a cover of that song.

HAHA yes I picture this song being in a quirky love comedy where the two friends realize they have been soul mates all along and they are running through the rain to hug.
This is lovely..

Their first album "Bring It On" is their best, I think. Free and textural, layered with moods. Runs the gamut from pop to dark dreamy tunes.
Dammit! When I post comments like that I get assaulted as an insensitive clod. Which I am by the way. I guess I answered my own question. I like the muffin idea. Tuna muffins?
A solid 8 .
