Delightful, uplifting music that reminds me of a bright summer day with the windows open and a gentle ocean breeze flowing through the house. And on top of that these guys really know how to pluck the guitar strings.
ukelele
I see a few comments re: Hawaiian guitar – just want to point out that the lead is being played on a ukulele, for what it's worth.
The Ka'au Crater Boys were great, and I'm glad to see this relatively obscure (on the mainland, anyway) now-defunct Hawaiian group on RP. This group deserves a lot of credit for making more traditional Hawaiian music "cool" again to the younger generation in Hawaii in the 90s. Jake Shimabukuro's first band, Pure Heart, grew out of this renaissance. And no matter how you feel about this track, you'd have to be dead not like Jake Shimabukuro's music, or at the very least admire his skill.
So give the Ka'au Crater Boys some love!
I thought the ukulele was a Hawaiian guitar.

what number would "delightful" be?

Hey this is really good! 8 into the road Playlist.

Yeah--its Rodrigo & Grabriela and Jake Shimabukuro had a threesome, and this band was the result. (Don't ask me to explain that.)
Not being a surfer (which I deplore) I'd rather head to the beach with a broad and a smile. Sorry for the dated slang
You deplore surfers or deplore not being one?

very fun way to wrap up a boring day at the office

HOW TERRIBLE!
Mr. Stingray, I challenge you to go to Hawaii and learn a bit about the culture and still have this response to the music.
Sometimes you have to understand something in order to appreciate its beauty or worth. Like all art.
I'm sorry that you need to attack things on a personal level, that you just don't like the style of.
Anyway, I love this.

Don't forget Keola Beamer and his brothers!
Scrolled down; I realise others think so too!
" The name Kaʻau Crater Boys refers to Kaʻau Crater, an extinct volcano above the Palolo Valley "
HOW TERRIBLE!
Doesn't really deserve a response, but here goes.....FYYFF.
That's an anti-troll personnel explosive device.

Just replying to bring this to the top, in case someone doesn't scroll down...

I believe that should be Nani!
(Hawaiian for beautiful. I had to look it up.)
festive. I can't understand why something like this is so polarizing. Zappa, now that should be polarizing.I disagree. This is wonderful music.
Y'know, just because something doesn't appeal to you personally—and there is a great deal of this apparently on RP, judging from your song comments—doesn't negate either its artistic value or its sheer fun quotient. You might lighten up a bit, or simply change the channel. Y'know...vote with your feet. I promise that no one will stop you.
Well said!!!!

But all music and art is trivial and all music and art is important...
I agree completely!! I'm an Island Girl in Romania who is missing da local music and flava!!
