Sunday nights that you want her like velvet cake
Sweet heart can bargain half price mistakes
She will go down with her ship like a good captain
You're sitting on the dock playing for an audience of one
Pacing your apartment, linoleum floors
Get a call from an old friend, she never liked him before
He will drive all over three lanes, you sit tight, shotgun
Windshield wipers waving for an audience of one
You came out from the country wearing mama's clothes
You were born in the city with daddy's domino's
You need a record you can move to, well, we got one
Drop the needle, we are playing for an audience of one
Drop the needle, we are playing for an audience of one
One gets all of you, two's jealous, three gets even less
Four divides you up then you're left pleasing all your guests
Reach out, you point a finger and touch the globe
Spin it round and where it stops you got to pack your bags and go
Land in the Mojave desert, you sing for the sun
Three's too many when you're playing for an audience of one
Two's too busy when you're playing for an audience of one
One is the only way you're playing for an audience of one

You know how I found this song? It was a song on Rock Band, that game you played on a Wii. I had never heard of Cold War Kids before but loved this song the first time I heard it. Glad to hear it here.

Right? Stopped me in my tracks this morning with a "Hey I remember this song but also I forgot about this song! Where has it been?" So fun. I'm glad it's back in rotation.
I haven't heard this in years and the last comments were 11 years ago. Sounds pretty great to my ears today. Thanks for adding this back to the rotation William et al.!

now I can't get it lower.
Something grabs me about their songs, but on repeated listening they really annoy me.
i thought it was joan armatrading too!!
I must be a total dork - I don't understand why this song is on the RP playlist. I'll give it a few more listens before I rate it.
Not special at all - actually quite boring!
Fitting. Common People. Hahahaha!
rating drops every time I hear it due to OVERPLAY

I can't speak for any other posters, but I make note of similarities so that I can refer back to my comments page and have a reference for new/unfamiliar artists. Also, being a History major and an Art History enthusiast, I'm trained and conditioned that genealogy is fundamental. What's wrong with putting things in a context?
Could the folks looking to always compare something to something else just please UNCLENCH.
THANKS

I don't know. I guess this is the sort of thing you'd enjoy...if you enjoy this sort of thing.
Me, I hear Kenny Loggins in this guy's voice.

I appreciate that Bill gives new cuts heavy rotation. It assures that I get a chance to hear them even if I'm not listening all day every day. Thank you, Bill.

I agree there are some overplayed songs on RP, but overall it's much less repetition than a standard radio station. And I hardly ever hear the same song twice in two days (I only listen at work, though).

I love this song but I can already tell that Bill is going to make me hate it. It's all part of his plan.
this is seriously over played.

For a second there I thought Florence might have tired of her machine.

Turn it UP!!!
Love it!
Isn't that Meg White on drums?
I can't abide this dry, pinched voice. Though it's not as grating as in Hang Me Up To Dry.
Okay, so including this one, I dig every song on this EP. Guess that's enough convincing—I'm buyin' it!
That moaning sounds like a cross between a seal begging for fish and someone with emphysema trying to suck in a little more oxygen.
These guys are great live. I caught them at a small venue in Seattle last year and look forward to more!
Love her voice

Robbers and Cowards, their previous album, is pretty good. Didn't know they had a new one out, I will be checking this out asap.
Nice work Cold Kids!

It's weird hearing a song on RP that I played first on Tap Tap Revenge... my fingers start twitching!
Nice work Cold Kids!
The influence of The White Stripes is obvious.
Tasty stuff!
