Pa' donde vas (Que pérdida)
¿Ay que te pasa? (Dímelo)
Abre tu corazón (Cómo no) Dime princesa (En soledad)

Abre tu corazón (Cómo no) Quieres bailar conmigo (Cariño)
En el norte de escocia lindo (Cómo no)
Sobre el sol de la noche clara (Mi vida)
Oye quieres bailar conmigo (Cariño) Oye ven dame la mano
(Quieres amar)
Oye que te llevaré A una isla bonita

Woah. Not only clearly racist but so uninformed that is actually comical. This is a Salsa song, not even close rhythmically to Ranchero music. Also, even though played at Mexico, Salsa comes from Cuba/Puerto Rico. I wish we had the option to kick out people like you. There is no space for people like you on a radio station like RP
This kind of music is played live by fantastic groups of musicians on the canary islands, that are actually part of Europe. This sound is so typically to the islands because lots of people went to Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia or Mexiko to work and escape the poor but beautiful life there. Many returned and brought this kind of music back.
And when the lyrics say "Oye que te llevaré a una isla bonita" (Hey, I'll take you
to a beautiful island) it is very likely they think about the island LA PALMA, which is called "La isla bonita" and very famous because of its beauty.
And, hey: I do live there, too (for some months each year) – and when RP runs songs like these, I get a warm feeling of home. So: Thank you Bill!
Cool! Works for me!
Yeah, where are the bagpipes? Definitely a great tune though!
GREAT TUNE!! I hate bagpipes. (Funeral music). This is happy music!!
I knew a kid in college whose father was Mexican and whose mother was Scots Irish.
His name - which I won't share exactly - was something along the lines of Séamus González.
He would tell you that he was genetically predisposed to bar fights, and while I never witnessed that I also never called it into question, because he had tattooed across the knucles of each hand "SPIC" and "MICK".
I hope he's okay and listening to this band.
Cool story. Thank You for sharing it.

Suddenly I feel the urge to make myself a Rum and Coke, and put some ice cubes in. I don't know why.
Maybe with a splash of Laphroaig 10yr (or is that sacrilege)?
This is awful. If I want to hear bad Ranchero music, I will dial my radio to any of the illegal Mexican radio stations that litter our public airways..... Please stop playing this crap.

Perhaps not your typical Scottish music.
Perhaps you should get out more!
Perhaps not your typical Scottish music.
It's more Irish than Scottish, on the Celtica side. They're typical of modern Scottish music, in that they're a fusion of multiple cultural influences. ACSS is another example.
This album featured Cuban artistes. I've seen the band many times, in Nottingham strangely enough, and they give a grand gig. ¡Viva la cumbia!
Why? WHY?! What did I ever do to you, Bill? Was I unkind to you or people you love? What did I do to deserve this.. Whatever it is, I promise to never do it again. Please, please. I beg of you. Don't do this to me again. I give. Mercy. You win. I'll never wrong you again. Then, can you forgive me and not - ever - play this again? I promise to love you forever...
For Ignorants like you there is the PSD button and now shuffle off and get on someone else's nerves...
20 years ago, she was... alas, but nevermore...
You might have heard the rhythm (chacha) before. Perhaps on dance class, or on vacation in Cuba? Or maybe Santana's 'Oye como va' or Mink Deville's Demasiado Corazon.
Scottish salsa.
Funny....but this song is a Mambo Chacha. ;-)
And yet still best played wearing kilts.
actually, I guess you just gave him to me.
where did you get him? I need that guy!

When I realized that this wasn't more Santana, this caught my ear. An easy 7, but, if I listen more, my rating could easily go higher.
It shouldn't work, but it does - these guys are stars throughout Scotland, believe me, and even beyond. I've seen them twice at Nottingham in a small venue and they're an absolute hoot, great fun. The band is a genuine mix of Irish, Scottish, and Latin American musicians, and technically the dog's bollox. This is just so typical of modern Scottish music, which is characterised by cultural and stylistic fusion (see also Peatbog Faeries, Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Afro-Celt Sound System, and many others).
"Ranchero music"? ROTFL!
An easy 9 from the Albaphile Nottingham jury.
Sorry. . . just drank it. I'll order another.
OLA!
There are numerous localities where salsa is not on the local radio... Radio Paradise is on the internet which means it is in a lot of localities...
Yes, we must keep things in their respective, proper boxes!
I'm with you.
Another turn on by RP.
Thanks.

Absolutely! I've found and enjoyed more music because of RP then I have listening to anything else. Keep up the great work Bill!
hear hear, absolutely true, thnks Bill
Their 15th anniversary this year - it's amazing to think that they've been around so long but only in recent years have they achieved the exposure and fame they deserve. These guys and gals are seriously big in Scotland.
Ah, Salsa: the vertical expression of a horizontal desire ;)
Edit: saw them in Nottingham last week at a small venue on the university campus and they were as good as 3 years ago, though they had a new lead singer from Cuba (as was the main percussionist). Highly recommended as a live show.
We saw them playing in Amsterdam about 10 years ago, and were just swept away. They are so much fun!

I was fortunate to see in the new year with Salsa Celtica performing for us! They were playing at Edinburghs Hogmanay party.
Our esteemed Bill just mentioned on the air the fiddle in the band is an indicative the band is from Celtic lands.
A Cuban style known as 'Charanga' has been using a fiddle since at least the 1910's. In the 70's charangas were played by many Salsa bands, including—of course—Fania All Stars, and Charanga 76. Additional Info in the Wikipedia entry:

I suggest a good psychiatrist to work on the repressed rage and to help you find balance in the mean-time, perhaps an anti-anxiety like Lexapro, etc. Oh, yes, and a daily dose of Radio Paradise, the best anti-anxiety on the planet.
Bill can play whatever he wants. You should look up the word "eclectic".

I'm thinking "Scotch-korean" starburst commercial ...
