Turn off your mind, relax and float downstream
It is not dying, it is not dying
Lay down all thoughts, surrender to the void
It is shining, it is shining
That you may see the meaning of within
It is being, it is being

Love is all, love is everyone
It is knowing, it is knowing
But listen to the color of your dreams
It is not dying, it is not dying
It is not dying, it is not dying
It is not dying

Turn off your mind, relax and float downstream
It is not dying, it is not dying
Lay down all thoughts, surrender to the void
It is shining, it is shining
It is shining, it is shining
It is shining, it is shining
It is shining, it is shining
It is shining, it is shining

So no Woodstock by CSNY?
Eno and John Cale's version is much better!
Give me the 801 Live version with Eno.

You Bigot!
So much better than the original....
I'm a huge fan of Alison Mosshart's voice. Also, this whole soundtrack is wonderful. The movie I'm kind of 'meh' about, but the music is great.
This appeared on Netflix or somesuch the other day so I gave it a go. Crummy in every respect.
Blasphemous

Sucker Punch
(the movie) is really something else.  Young ladies have been wrongly sent to Dr Gorski's mental institution where they are routinely drugged and lobotomized.  The lead character reverts to video-game fantasy  in an effort to escape.

Worth watching if you like weird stuff.

Good Luck, Dr Gorski
Psychedelia is surprisingly hard to pull off, as this failure demonstrates
this song stands up so well in the four versions I can think of off-hand, including this one, which is new to me.
I like the sonic ambiance, it just lives well on its own.
I get a little reminiscence of Siouxie, but I don't know them that well...!?
Hell, yeah. Quite a version...
This reminds of 801!
I think the whole soundtrack fits the movie's style very well. Don't like that childish movie either.

Does this include TH "Take Me to the River"?  Which is great song.
Sounds just like that other cover played here from this soundtrack. too long and watered down.
I've heard it said that in order for a cover to succeed, you have to make it your own. I think she did a good job of it.
Sounds like a mashup.  Wish @billg would play us some DJ Schmolli...instead.

Wierd, but like it !
Just checked — yup, I gave the original a 10. This gets a 2 and a 2 ONLY because the original version is so strong a bit of it still shines through this dreck.
this is poor    $ucker punch

This is simply a vanilla cover version that ANY second-rate club act could render. Same goes for White Rabbit on the same album.

So sad to hear such mush on RP. This makes ME feel Sucker Punched!

Then, to add injury, at the time of listening, Bill immediately follows up with the Dolly Parton cover version of "Shine".

Come on Bill. Really?

Sounds perfect for a movie soundtrack. As long as you don't expect much, it's pretty enjoyable. 6
It's better than the cover of White Rabbit from the same album....that may be damning it with faint praise, but.....
Travesty.... John will not be happy!
No covers, RP! Soundtrack or not, no covers!
Never again!
Rather pleasant, really. But I'm a sucker for a crisp, clear female voice. So subtract a point or two of you're not.
OH, not this tripe again.
The only thing this has going for it is that it was a great tune to begin with - which has been all but obliterated in this dumpster of a production.

You've got the message across quite clearly. I agree with you - this is unmemorable, though I still consider it to be an improvement on the original.

I'll get my asbestos suit...

I kinda like it. All you nay-sayers... well.. sorry.  I've heard far worse attempts to do justice to Beatles songs.
A totally overproduced cover on a Zack Snyder soundtrack?!?! Oh sweetest irony.

Why this rubbish when you can play 801!!!
nice
OK, so what happened to this movie?  They had pictures plastered all over Times Square for a whole three days.  Seemed like it would either take a dive or become a cult hit.

Lamest of Lame!
So far this album is 0 for 2.  I hope I don't have to hear the rest of what it has to offer.
...i really really like this cover very much - it's a cool album in general, but this is by far its highlight...

Gosh, I kinda liked the movie, if only for the monsters they were fighting.
Love Alison's voice. Great cover.
darn it.  I like it.
What a bummer.
Seems like a lifeless and half-hearted attempt to me.
I can't believe RP plays this but has never played anything by The Kills.

Yes, I salute you warmly for your interest in this site. I myself frequently consult this page daily for several years.

Since we're picking favorites (other than the original, of course), I'll go with the one Phil Collins did to close out "Face Value".

I'll agree with that!!

I can't recommend the movie, but there are a number of interesting covers like this on the soundtrack.

The Rolling Stone review said it was horrible
I do like this take on it.  Though it could be considered a little over blown.

I thought the Herbie Hancock/Dave Matthews cover of this song on the Imagine project was pretty interesting.

I usually like covers that take the song in a whole new direction, but this is really well done.

It may have been "commissioned" by whoever was putting the music together for the movie.  Not that bad of a version, really.

The album is almost all covers.   Some of them better than others.  Unfortunately the music was driven by the scene in the movie (which wasn't that good).     I like Sweet Dreams and White Rabbit better than this one.

no comparison...801 far exceeds this attempt

What a bloated cover, they throw everything at the song but the kitchen sink. Luckily the song is strong enough to survive. I much prefer the 801 cover of this song that RP occasionally plays.

Neat that it is in a movie!
...very cool!..
I'd rate it higher if I didn't know the original...

Interesting take on the Beatles tune.  The movie looks interesting, too!  Must add it to my Netflix queue.
A good take off on a Beatles classic.
Nice try, but some songs just should not be redone.
