Finn Andrews stands on his own. DB and Bono are from another bands, not to mention PJ Harvey.
This song (in the verse) suddenly reminds me of Two Silver Trees by Calexico. I think it was the piano that made me think of it.

Finn Andrews is the son of Barry Andrews (ex XTC) from Shriekback.
Don't like the "Bono" vocal so much, but I love the arrangement, the slow build up on a simple groove.

HS Class of 95 - and I FOR SURE remember reading "The Pearl" - I don't remember it that well other than the scorpion bite part. Steinbeck was great at the parable about US life stories. What was called American Lit vs. English Lit.

I spent a fair bit of time in hospital as a kid, but just treated it as an inconvenience. I didn't appreciate the gift that is our NHS. My wife is a nurse now and it astonishes me that we can have such a wonderful profession, unthanked, for £10 per hour. A bargain, I'd say.
