Blood running hot, night chills
Without your love I'll be
So long and lost, are you missing me?
Is it too late to come on home?
Are all those bridges now old stone?
Is it too late to come on home?
Can the city forgive? I hear its sad song
I need the clouds to cover me
Pulling them down, surround me
Without your love I'll be
So long and lost, are you missing me?
Is it too late to come on home?
Are all those bridges now old stone?
Is it too late to come on home?
Can the city forgive? I hear its sad song
It's been so long between the words we spoke
Will you be there up on the shore, I hope
You wonder why it is that I came home
I figured out where I belong
But it's too late to come on home
Are all those bridges now old stone?
But it's too late to come on home
Can the city forgive? I hear its sad song
tHOUGH T this was London Grammar as well.
Welcome to all you London GramGroupies! I've been a fan of both London Grammar AND Florence & the Machine for years!
Wow, a FloMa song I actually like!
I have to agree. She's singing like a normal person on this! I didn;t even realize it was her. More please.

I was just going to write the very same thing - although for almost the entirety I didn't look to see who it was, assuming it was London Grammar!
Hey, this is pretty.
Sounds like Hannah/London Grammar;
Florence Welch?
No shouting.
Hey. this is good.

Love the effortless range of her voice, and the deep instrumental bass .
Yeah - what if she and Hannah Reid collaborated?

Hey. this is good.
give me a break. Not Bond material in any way
Steep learning curve?
Well, that comment and similar do not fill me with desire to explore the rest of her repertoire.
Nice song.
So true. Which is why I like London Grammar way better.

So for all those of you who remember this show....
"And tonight Matthew, we have Florence Welch who is going to be.... Hannah Reid of London Grammar"
The only problem is that Florence & the Machine formed two years before London Grammar so maybe it's the opposite?
Either everyone else who listens to this station has poor taste in music or .....?

As a new "fan" of F+TM I've finally found a reason to really like these two - https://www.wimp.com/florence-the-machine-serenades-a-dying-girl/I don't see the song they sung on this video on the RP playlist, which is OK. I'm posting to 1) share with others this touching moment and 2) to point out that even in a hospital good old Florence sure does belt it out! Long Live RP!

Was never a fan of this band, but that video is awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Uhm... I watched that video, it is as hard to watch as it is to turn off.
Okay, as there is no explanation at all for who that girl is, what illness she has - maybe this was a big story in the USA, but I'm in Europe and don't know the first thing about her - I felt it was a brutal scene to be thrown in my face; I DID see the word hospital in Lizardking's text, so I expected Florence might be singing for someone sick, but not near death...
Of COURSE, it's a beautiful gesture by Florence just to come and sing for the girl. AND I share the opinion that you see how much she's the master of her own voice in a quite unforgiving surrounding like this hospital room...
Still, seeing this girl in the state she's in *without knowing what the matter is with her*, this is going to give me nightmares.
It's not a judgement, OBVIOUSLY, but I can't say - like most comments I read - that it moved me to tears, because I could tell how she wasn't doing well at all, it scared me, shocked me.
There was a suggested video in Youtube with the title "Teen dies two weeks after Florence sings for her" or something like that, to round up the horror.
Yes, I'm easily impressed, I'm sensitive and over-empathetic, and I'd have liked to be warned before seeing this.
Bless that girl, she looked like a nice girl not deserving what she was going through, I'm glad she had that moment (and good taste in music, liking Florence... ;-) )
As for the SONG discussed in this thread (maybe I should have started with that), it's a lovely surprise. I really like it.
It really touches me this one. To the bone. To the soul.

The average rating for this song - and apparently others - that you "hate" and that get played every now and then anyway is 7.4. Think about it!

I do like some of her songs - "What the water gave me" really got to me, but none of her other songs quite did as much for me, and I really wanted to like her...
Still, even if she hadn't done this one, Long & lost, I'd still respect her having created something of her own that is powerful and unique.
Agreed - this is first thing I've actually liked by them.
I didnt like much of her early stuff either but I like this. Looks like she emotionally shit herself after the first 2 efforts and then went through a self assessment and got a new producer as well
This is a nice album from our Flossie, with the volume turned down from the usual 11 (not that that bothers me, mind). Quite subtle and moving.
I totally agree, having throttled the volume of her voice down below 100% she allows us to hear that there more to her singing than raw power.

Florence is amazing. I actually feel there is a possibility she will become a legend if she keeps this up. Obviously only time will tell, but I look forward to watching her career as it unfolds.
? Are you perhaps mixing her up with Neko Case, who had an album cover with her standing on the bonnet of a Mustang holding a spear?

Right on fredriley! (that's a Mercury Cougar by the way, she's riding a predator : )
Ha! So true. This made me check the site. Very nice, for a change.
I was thinking the same thing. She wasn't shouting at me in this tune, and I think her voice was much more beautiful because of it. Toward the end she started getting louder, and I was thinking, oh boy here it comes, but restraint can be good sometimes.

Well done Flo.
Same here, like it with more restraint and less flourish. Good sound.
