It doesn't hurt me
Do you want to feel how it feels?
Do you want to know, know that it doesn't hurt me?
Do you want to hear about the deal that I'm making?

You
It's you and me

And if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
Be running up that road
Be running up that hill
Be running up that building
Say, if I only could, oh...

You don't want to hurt me
But see how deep the bullet lies
Unaware I'm tearing you asunder
Ooh, there is thunder in our hearts
Is there so much hate for the ones we love?
Tell me, we both matter, don't we?

You
It's you and me
It's you and me, won't be unhappy

And if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
Be running up that road
Be running up that hill
Be running up that building
Say, if I only could, oh...

You
It's you and me
It's you and me, won't be unhappy

Oh come on, baby
Oh come on, darling
Let me steal this moment from you now
Oh come on, angel
Come on, come on, darling
Let's exchange the experience, oh

And if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
I'd be running up that road
Be running up that hill
With no problems

Say, if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
I'd be running up that road
Be running up that hill
With no problems

Say, if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
I'd be running up that road
Be running up that hill
With no problems

Say, if I only could
I'd be running up that hill
With no problems

If I only could, be running up that hill
If I only could, be running up that hill

lovely version, you can feel their reverence for Kate

I strongly endorse First Aid Kit doing a complete cover of the El Loco album.  I want to hear them cover Party On The Patio and Tube Snake Boogie.  Would they do that album justice?  I wonder.
Indeed , very nice cover of the Kate Bush song, time to accept new versions.
This isn't a bad cover, but it's what my wife would call "unnecessary".
Wow, I’ve heard versions of this song a lot lately, or just other Kate Bush songs. What is the deeper meaning? Or is everyone just watching season 4 of Stranger Things.
Perfect segue, Bill! (P.S. not crazy about the song. Irrevelant, anyway).

Almost!
It's a fan-song. Descent. For live-performances.
Touring with Lord Huron in 2022!!!
Sweet cover
theyre harmonizing is in the indigo girls class
this band puts out alot of great songs...covers and originals
Oops, that doesn't sound like ZZ Top at all?! Sorry, I first saw the photo on the record cover.... Please don't misunderstand, but Scandinavian bands are unfortunately underestimated. So 8 points,  a successful arrangement needs no  long beards.
I love Kate Bush but have never been fan of covers, anyway it is a beautiful song.
A song this personal and intimate shouldn't ever be done in duet form.  Harmonizing is fine, but not both girls belting out the lyrics together.  Not all songs are meant for duets.  I'm gonna have to give this a pass.

Sooo many great covers in the world of music. My long-term favourite is Santana's cover of Fleetwood Mac's Black Magic Woman. A classic from a classic - awesome .... btw - Hi everybody! after the best part of 20 years listening to RP this is my first post

Wow look at that ratings spread... a pretty large fraction down near the bottom and some near the very top... even a few 10s.
I like it more than the origininal. Breathes new blood in it. That song deserves not to be forgotten
Hell of a song to try and cover but this works brilliantly. Completely love this version.
I adore First Aid Kit and really like their covers...the Leonard Cohen stuff is great.  This, however, leaves me wanting.  They just don't seem to grab the gravity of one of Kate's masterpieces.  If I was editing this particular film, I'd leave this scene on the cutting room floor.  Doesn't add to the story...
Truly egregious. “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should”, as Bill Clinton famously said.
It's hard to cover Kate. Many have tried and failed.
This cover is the not good… I really like first aid kit but this is a mistake. NO passion
For some strange reason, every time I see that album cover I think of ZZ Top.
I see what you're doing here with this pick, RP. 'Cause I'm smart like that.

I'll have the Plain Vanilla

Was that with extra Vanilla sir?
A caramel cover of cotton candy.
I'll have the Plain Vanilla
Not bad, but it lacks the passion and angst of the original.
I love this song, and this cover is so felt.. for me is special and givess this song a spell to continue the magic,  and there's no comparison with the original by great Kate. it's intensity that renders... <3

First Aid Kate
Did they get their Dad to sing harmony with them at the end?
I hate to pile on the hate . . . .

That's a lie. This is GOD AWFUL.

Bleeeeccck.

This is an awful cover

I don't normally agree with negative comments on RP but sadly I have to agree with this one. Kate's original is outstanding, one of her best. And First Aid Kit do some lovely songs too. But their voices don't suit this song at all.
This is an awful cover
great song  cheesey version
I don't mind covers and Bill seems to like them a lot but this one ........ nah !
The original is just too magical for anything to come close
Useless cover. Not interesting. Uninspired.
Why?

I would add Little Feat's version of  Dylan's Takes a lot to laugh.. , Devo's Satisfaction and Sinead's Downpressor Man

I always feel if you are going to do a cover then make it yours; Devo's Satisfaction is a good example This is just a copy of Kate's version which will never be surpassed. Waste of time.
Nope.

Cover songs are inspired when they take a distinctly different sonic approach to the original, transforming into something different - in contrast to the song’s original concept, which may have been clearly articulated by its writer and felt by the listener. Such transformation is not easy to do.

Great covers do not simply sing the words and play the music in roughly the same spirit. Yes, the cover vocals and music are inherently different from the original (they are, after all, different singers and musicians), but the differences can and should be more than this. Otherwise the cover cannot stand on its own creative merit and could rightly be described as mimicry.

Examples of great covers:
Pretty Woman - Van Halen (original by Roy Orbison)
Ziggy Stardust - Bauhaus (original by David Bowie)
China Girl - David Bowie (original by Iggy Pop)

180 degrees opposite for me, but to each their own. I need a real Kate palate cleanser.
Placebo did much better cover, IMO.
First Aid Kit does not stand up to repeated listening. They start to sound thinner and thinner until they just sort of ....................fade away
