I don't want a pickle
I just want to ride my motorcycle.
I don't wanna tickle
I just want to ride my motorcycle.
And I don't want to die
I just want to ride on my motorcycle.
--Arlo Guthrie
1979...laying in the fragrant, soft grass on the Quad, surrounded by laughing friends, one who brought his new boombox with cassette.... all enjoying the golden evening light with a late Summer velvet breeze... and just as the "Bicycle, bicycle, bicycle" intro begins on this song, a herd of bicyclists (about 20) comes flying past us, ringing their bicycle bells to warn those on the sidewalk they were coming. Of course we all had to loudly sing along for the rest of the song.
It was "one of those moments" that will never happen again, and every time i hear this, I remember it with a silly grin.
Their first 4 albums were truly ground breaking.

Ahhh...the 1970s.  We got spoiled on such great music.  We had lofty expectations to be amazed every month by a new album from a different group.

People under 40 probably don't get it.  It was a "Camelot" for music.
Now I remember why I have avoided this song for 50 years.
As a Dutch person I can do nothing but LOVE this song!! (But it is called "Bicycle Race", not "Seven Seas of Rhye"). But aside from that, this whole song is amazing, from the complex instrumentation and time signature shifts, to the theme of uninhibited freedom (probably referring to Mercury's sexuality), to the crazy video (apparently the album also included a poster of the naked cyclists?), and to the reference to fat-bottomed girls and the bicycle reference in "Fat-Bottomed Girl"!
Supposedly they wrote this song in the French countryside while the Tour de France was going on outside.
Cycle on ✌️

This is "Bicycle Race", not "Seven Seas of Rhye"... fun.  Fluffy but fun.
