The explanation Bill gives for the band name, is actually incorrect (I think).
"... the band said it came from an Isle of Wight slang to describe non-locals on the island - those who had crossed the Solent were said to have a "wet leg" from getting off the boat."
Also, if you get a chance to see them live... do, they're awesome. I managed to see them for an intimate album launch gig a few weeks back, and it was amazing.
