My young bride
Why are your shoulders like that
Of a tired old woman?
Like a tired old woman?
My young bride
Why are your fingers like that
Of the hedge in winter?
Of the hedge in winter?
Polonaise in winter
Snowshoes and hunters
Carried the goods in for you
My young bride
Why aren't you moving at all?
Helps to make the day seem shorter
Helps to make the day seem shorter
My young bride
Why aren't you keeping with you
All the ones who really love you?
All the ones who really love you?
Polonaise in winter
Snowshoes and hunters
Carried the goods in for you
Darkness and forests
Grant you the longest
Face made from porridge and stew
Polonaise in winter
Snowshoes and hunters
Carried the goods in for you
Darkness and forests
Grant you the longest
Face made from porridge and stew

I like this album quite a bit. And I was ready to write them off when their sole songwriter left the band in 2012. But the follow up album Antiphon was just amazing. It is my favorite album by them now. Impressive to see a band lose their only songwriter, and hunker down and produce a top quality album on their own. Good for them. Check out the album.

Following the lyrics, I get a picture of a psycho alternately complaining and jeering at his victim. I hope there's a less revolting interpretation because, if that is indeed the subject, I really do not want to get sucked into the song's undoubted hypnotic appeal.

It's odd that this is the only track from this album on RP - there are several better ones!

I didn't know they were from Denton, TX. I was born in Denton! No wonder I like these guys...

The album cover deserves something better

The intro makes me think that Jet Li is going to jump out from behind something and kick someones ass!

Reminds me a *lot* of Savoy. For those who haven't heard of them, Savoy is the band that Pal Waaktaar, lead songwriter and guitarist from a-ha, formed with his wife, Lauren Savoy, when a-ha was on hiatus in the '90s. If you like this song, you'll like a lot of Savoy — you'd never know they're related to a-ha if no one told you.
Any other Savoy fans out there?

Love this song, but I wish RP would play a couple other songs from this album. "Roscoe" and "Head Home", especially. Love the harmonies!
Very interesting...and I must agree with a previous poster: intoxicating. And that's good; way good. Keep on finding the rock gems, RP!
Seriously amazing. It just drives me crazy each time I hear this song. Absolutely beautiful. Intoxicating.
...but it must be played loudly.
Thank you for playing it Radio Paradise!

I like this- haven't gotten into the rest of the album as much as this one song.

I read in Rolling Stone that Occupanthers are carriers of acute hemorrhagic pancreatic necrosis...
Definitely grows on you. Anyone have the whole album?
If you are in Denton, go to Pascals, owned in part by these guys. Nice place for a drink

Golly, this sounds like so much Sir Paul.

This is nice...I like the bohdran-y effect of the drums.

"Incorrect", surely.
I'm not sure it's politically incorrect to discuss the hardships women in very difficult living conditions had to face. A bit harsh to call her out on it, perhaps, but I think the intent is to highlight the difficulty, not the lack of attention to (modern day) details. Another song with similar, and in my mind more sensitive, lyrics is Figgy Duff's, "Woman of Labrador"
Most politically uncorrect....................darn nice music tho'........and covert commentary!

This band hails from Denton tx. A lot of their songs have a mid-fleetwood Mac vibe/ welch era.
Nice tune. The cover image is cool too - that guy on the right looks hauntingly familiar.

WHO UPLOADED MIDLAKE?!?!?!?!
Thanks! :-)
Excellent, Midlake seem very competent in capturing a certain medieval atmosphere. Not so much with this song, but others and especially their latest album "The Courage Of Others". I really love Midlake, however i realise it's not for everyone...
