I haven't listened to broadcast FM in decades. My brother sticks to college radio stations; unfortunately they play a lot of low-talent garage band groups in an attempt to be anti-corporate.
I remember hearing that WBCN, the coolest station in the Boston area (GeneP59 knows what I'm talkin' 'bout) had changed its format. I knew then that RP-style FM (independent DJ with interesting taste) was gone.
But hey, the big four networks are dying too! When was the last time any one of them came out with an interesting new show? And watching most stuff on cable has become impossible because of all the ads.
We try to listen to Saturday Morning Flashback on WXRT most weekends. The operative word being "try" due to all the goddam ads.

Why yes, yes I do. A bunch of perverts, wackos, pot smokinâ deviants I came to love in high school and college. They hand a great balance of talk and music while they were on the airwaves. I even designed the race car for their photo shoot. Somewhere in my house is a photo of that car.
And I think William remembers them from his stent in Boston.
I do however wake to The River 92.5 in the morning. An independent station that plays what they want since there is no âMANâ to tell them the programming playlist.

I tried listening to radio instead of RP or my collection and it was nauseating. 80% ads, 35% talky boring DJs, and 2.5% same old same old music that sounded like AM even though I was listening to âAliceâ FM.
So so different from my growing up. Disappointing, because that musical exposure - including the inability to simply call up a song when you wanted to hear it - made music special.

When in my car I only listen to Sports Radio unless Iâm up in the mountains of NH. Then I hit search for anything thats available.

The French are really good at stuff like this. Would love to see a "making of" of that, if they shot it all on a 1 cm2 surface.
