I just came in to say this pretty much sucks :(
No option for TuneIn here in the UK, because of that spat they had with you, so I relied on the native carplay capability in the app. I will continue to make my annual contribution to RP, but like someone else suggested, if you want to launch a paid app to cover reinstating the functionality the old app had, then I would be in for that.

VLC works, but the audio quality is not great. Tune-In is an option, audio is great, but no song info, and no skip control. Bluetooth with IOS is similar to CarPlay, but you have to start it and change channels while not driving, which is not possible most of the time. Bottom line, nothing replaces the CarPlay functionality, so in my opinion, this was a poor marketing decision that will negatively affect revenue.
When I was selling enterprise software, marketing would cut features to reduce development costs. This ultimately pissed off customers, and they would shop around for alternate solutions. Re-inserting those lost features after the fact would end up costing more than if they had just left them in.
I tried Etre (paid the $8 to unlock features) and find it somewhat useful.
PRO: CarPlay
Can add RP streams as stations and move between them
Can add other stations listen to with other apps
Album art and Apple Music integration
CON: No buffer (or very limited)
Canât skip songs
otherwise small (66% of new RP app), clean, functional app.

VLC supports any and all sound qualities, as they depend on the different audio streams provided by RP. -

You can save your RP stream links into VLC, and start them from CarPlay without accessing your phone
To do this:
on the RP website, go to Listen â> Stream links. Find and copy the stream link you'd like to hear. You'll paste them into VLC one by one
one-time setup in the VLC app â Browse â> Open Network Stream, paste your RP stream URLs one by one, renaming them to suit your titling needs. These links are now saved in VLC and available in CarPlay
in CarPlay, your saved stream links are in the Network tab
these are live streams, so you lose some things: you can't skip forward, you can't reliably pause and then pick up where you left off, no art, etc.
but this is what RP has always been and still is: first order of business is playing Bill's curated music choices, voila
VLC is a little wonky and technical but hey it's CarPlay, so there you go

Please bring CarPlay back. I noticed something was wrong as soon as I had my next roadtrip and found this thread.
It is illegal to touch your phone when driving in my state so no more RP in the car for us until this feature can be added back. I posted a 2-Star rating in the App Store but am happy to revise once even basic CarPlay control and ability to play downloaded music for areas without coverage is available again.

PLEASE, do bring it back. I don't just need the stream(s). I want to skip, see album art, rate songs etc. I even bought a Carlinkit T2C to get Carplay in the Tesla, just because of RP! A real Tesla app would be an even better option of course, but in my wife's car, we do need RP on Carplay.

I may have missed this in the treads here.....
When I'm online the internet & select the "My Paradise" channel, I get a "Connecting to My Paradise..." message but it never connects.
Also, when I downloaded my favorites library to the My Paradise channel (4 hours), every time I exit and then go back it starts the same 4 hours over again instead of picking up where I left off. I guess I have to "Refresh" and download again? Is there not an "online mode" for My Paradise?
Any help here?

William, with all due respect, adding "useful & interesting things to come" while losing a basic function that is obviously something that is missed by a lot of your listeners doesn't seem to me to be all that good a trade.

Why does the old app have to die? Call it RadioParadiseLite and leave out the rest of the pending very useful and interesting things. The old app was very small and simple - wasnât it? I seemed to recall it was only like 3 MB. 1/15 of the new app. Or maybe Iâm wrong. But I thought that was one of the things I liked about it. Its simplicity.
Probably not a viable idea. But I saw elsewhere this was only a 2% rollout. So youâre only getting 2% of the heat I guess.
I do not contribute. But have been seriously considering I should. I have been listening for too long without doing so.
I used to love the iTunes integration. So I could add songs to my library. Thatâs gone. With your naked disdain for Apple, it does not sound like a means of doing anything with a link to Apple Music is in the cards.
I used to have a workaround. When clicking the âshareâ button it would create a message with the song title, artist, and link to RP for the same. I made a macro that would scrape that info out of the message, look it up in iTunes, and add it to my âGreat New RP Tunesâ playlist. Now the share is just a generic link to RP.
Now CarPlay is gone. I was on the fence. And should be contributing. I know I should. All of this does not help with that.
Good luck in patching this up and Iâm sorry to hear of the overruns.

We'll keep listening on this, and are open to changing our minds. That definitely won't be happening during next week's bugfix & we'll continue the rollout after that. But come January, if this is genuinely having a significant negative impact, we'll find a way to make it happen.
Please bring it back. Please.

Thatâs good to hear William and Iâd like to say thank youâ¦I was worried, from your earlier posts, your mind was made up and your foot was down..!
I note a few 1 Star ratings on the App Store already, but what your criteria for impact is I guess is naturally your callâ¦

A couple of things only revealed themselves after the launch, and a quick pause for significant issues was always part of the plan.
